My home town. My parents have lived in the same house for 45 years. I LOVED growing up there. The graffiti on the trees makes me sad, that is a newer thing. But, the town in general is looking great. I love it and am glad you enjoyed it.

We loved Crestline so much, we can't wait to go back again one day. Now that everything's open we may do so soon probably without the cameras so we can experience it all without the stress of filming. I think everyone hates the graffiti equally except the punks who feel the need to deface it.

My husband & I purchased our home in Crestline three years ago. We are both in our mid forties & work down the mountain. While we LOVE our home, we wish we’d done more research on this area. There is a large, visible drug presence. Due to that, there is a higher crime rate than we’d anticipated. Also, remember you not only purchase your home but neighbors as well. Ours leave much to be desired (which can be typical for this area) as far as cleanliness of their properties (which flows into ours) & noise. Each side of us we hear loud, violent family arguments with yelling almost daily. Law enforcement have come to our street more than I can count in the three years we have lived here. Unfortunately, common for Crestline. Racism is also rampant including a documented racist rant by the local newspaper editor. It is not the mountain wonderland we’d hoped. Ultimately, those factors will shorten the time we choose to live here. Please consider “living” the Crestline daily life prior to purchase.

Thank you for your reply Greenjeans. Unfortunately almost everywhere has it's share of good areas, and rotten ones. We live two freeway exits away from Disneyland and all you see everywhere is drugs, crime, and all the other fun things that go with those two things. Even if this seems to be a common theme in many places, California has the same reoccurring problems in almost every one of it's city's. Our channel draws it's name from the book "The Tale of Two Cities", which tells the story of a person with duel personalities. Cities are the same, there's a good side, and there's a not so good side, you can only really hope the good outweighs the bad but I'd be upset too if I moved to somewhere so beloved only to end up in the shady side of town.
@greenjeans75044 жыл бұрын
The Tale of 10,000 Cities Thank you for the name explanation. Yes, I’m familiar with Dickens. However, you may misunderstand the Crestline dynamic. There isn’t a “bad side of town”. It’s THE TOWN. We chose not to move further up to Arrowhead to avoid the more severe weather. We are told it’s a nicer area as far as cleanliness & drug activity.
@TheTaleofCities4 жыл бұрын
@@greenjeans7504 Well... I'd encourage you to research that to see if it's true before going as well. The woman in our video, Rhea-Frances Tetley wrote books on both towns. I honestly don't think anywhere in California is immune to drug activity, but I do know the area we stayed at in Crestline was very nice so I wouldn't categorize the whole city based on one part of it. Then again, you've been there three years, we were there three days, I just know many people in the town love it up there so I'm sorry you've had a bad experience. I loved working in Anaheim by the Honda Center for 9 years, but where I've lived for 9 months? Ehhhhh.....
@iankeegan50474 жыл бұрын
That means your not far enough out. Maybe you live too close to top town or the lake. We live here full time and have never experienced any problems except for flatlanders coming up here and not respecting the mountain.

Thank you for this feedback. I am actually looking to moving here now-when the crazy prices come down of course. But my brother is a Sheriff in San Bernardino and says that it’s always on the map for theft and drug activity. This is truly anywhere though, it’s a bummer it’s in a idyllic mountain town so I feel you. You’re not kidding about neighbors. I have seen lovely clean front yards, while some are just…yikes. I do see a lot of hispanic & white folks so it seems eclectic. I’d love to hear more about your experience as you are working down the mountain. How was it driving down every day? Driving during winter?

This video was great thankyou. My wife and I are actually moving up there in a month or two and we are really excited to have our first house in the mountains. Mrs. Tetley was my teacher at clement middle school. I grew up in San bernadino and highland and now we are starting our adventure together up there in the mountains. Hopefully we can have our first snowy Christmas up there this year

That's so awesome to hear Brandon! I'm glad you liked the video and are going to live up there, it's such a great place. Maybe we can be neighbors one day when we finally plant our roots! Isn't Rhea-Frances Tetley awesome? What a pleasure it was to meet her.

Please, do make a second video when you are able to visit more places once they open again, especially Heart Rock! I loved the vibe of this project. Excellent work, and info here. Thank you! Eagerly awaiting your return!!! I wish you much success in this family adventure! Have fun, and safe travels to the three of you!💖

Great video. Spent time with my wife before we were married with her family who rented a cabin owned by the principal of a school in El Monte. His last name was Fickeworth and we called it the Fickeworth cabin. This was in the early 60's. The cabin was two stories with a shower in a basement that the girls hated because it was dark and scary. We had to bring "church clothes" to attend mass or the priest would not allow you in. Talk about changing times. Still looks idyllic and inviting.

@@TheTaleofCities Hi. I own a vacant lot there but I can't afford to build on it. Do you think If I parked a nice looking rv or camper on my land that code enforcement would bother me? I'm very quiet and tidy. I'm just not sure how strict enforcement is there. I really wish I could live there.

Nice job! My mom has been living in Crestline for almost 30 years. As a matter of fact, she lives next door to Camp Seeley/Heart Rock. Because of COVID, it’s been super busy with people and they’ve been parking ALL over the place. Please visit as it is very cool, but watch out for her driveway lol

Not to mention if you're a Star Trek fan it's the real site of first Contact between Vulcans and humans in V.O.E. the vulcans view the town (supposedly Carbon Creek) in the ditch I used to play guns in as a kid! I happen to be driving by during filming before I was even a fan! (Not of the new series Discovery that's just 100% agenda, but that can be said for most things on TV nowadays LOL) had a lot of love for Enterprise though along with voyager and TNG obviously.
