Thank you for your amazing reaction! This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However, as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world! Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (a classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (an ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (a classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (a musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. This song is from old English folk song. Simon & Garfunkel version is the most famous as far I know. There are some stories about this song Scarborough Fair..what I've read was this is a song from a ghost (soul) of a dead soldier. He asked the herbs growing on his dead body to deliver his message to his beloved girl in Scarborough Fair where was a big herb market. He asked the herbs to tell her impossible task "Tell her to make me a cambric shirt without no seams nor needle work" to make her give up waiting for his coming back as he's already unable as he's dead. Forestella sang like as messengers of this sad and beautiful story. Also there are symbols those herbs significated: parsley for comfort or to remove bitterness, sage for strength, thyme for courage, and rosemary for love. There's some speculation that these four herbs were used in a tonic of some sort to remove curses. What I first heard was to remove memories..so I thought he (the dead soldier) wanted to remove the memory about him from his girl to make her not mourning for him anymore. BTW I found those herbs cannot be grown in the same areas in fact while on my researching English references.. so it could be just for remembering the recipe for turkey seasoning ingredients, too.

Bonjour, j'ai adoré votre réaction. J''ai eu la même la première fois que je les ai entendus. Ils savent très bien chanter en anglais, français, espagnol, zulu (shape of you) etc..... et j'en ai oublié. Quelques exemples de chansons : bohemian rapsodie, we are the champions, despacito, time in the bottle, bad romance, inner universe, sweet dream etc.. mais ma préférée, étant française, est bien sûr "je suis malade" de serge lama (interprète original). Ils chantent formidablement en français et nous donnent des frissons et des larmes aux yeux. Je pourrais parler longtemps d'eux mais je vais m'arrêter là. Lol. Bonnes écoutes.

I just came across your channel and was thrilled to see you reacting to this song. I still get goosebumps listening to this rendition by FORESTELLA. Medicine! Yes! That has been my mantra these past 9months because that is what their music has been for me. That beautiful bass voice ( actually a rare bass called basso profundo) belongs to Ko Woorim who is currently serving his mandatory military service til 19th May 2025. The other three have already done their service years ago. I recommend you react to their live performance of Queen’s BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY at their Mystique Encore Concert. Forestella was not formed through a big entertainment company. They were four individuals who auditioned in 2017 for a JTBC TV show Phantom Singer 2 looking to create crossover quartets..Forestella was born on that show and went on to win. Ko Woorim and Cho MinGyu their leader who is the 1st singer you saw, are both fully trained opera singers, Bae Doohoon on the far right , the baritenor is a trained and active musical theatre performer with a very versatile voice and lastly the tenor soprano Kang Hyungho is the only one with no formal music education , but is a self-trained tenor soprano . He is actually a rock singer with a band called PITTA formed during university days through to a work band with whom he won the amateur band competition in Busan. Just before abandoning dreams of a music career, he auditioned in 2017 and the rest is history. He resurrected the PITTA name as his rock identity and now has a successful rock act alongside Forestella activities.. All members have a solo activity outside Forestella.. 😊They are a multi-genre performer and multi-lingual singers.

I love watching first time reactions to our Forestella. You didn't disappoint. Their covers of songs like "Smooth Criminal", "Despacito", "Sweet Dreams", "Thriller", "Bad Romance", and "Bohemian Rhapsody" are amazing. It's always fun to see people experiencing "The Kings of Harmony" for the first time. 😂 Their group name is a mixture of "forest" and the Latin/Italian word "stella", which means star. So Forestella means a forest of stars. Their names from left to right in this video: Ko Woorim (classically trained basso profundo), Kang Hyungho (countertenor and rock voice, no vocal training), Cho Mingyu (classically trained tenor and leader of the group), Bae Doohoon (musical actor). This was from a competition show called "Immortal Songs". The motto of this episode was "Time travel", and so a song was chosen whose roots go back to the 17th century. It was revived by Simon & Garfunkel. Forestella sing all kinds of genres and in many languages. They are my favorite vocal group. They have covered Queen songs, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and many others. Some recommendations: Lazenca - Save Us (rock opera), Bohemian Rhapsody, Hijo de la luna, Je suis malade, Spread Silk on my heart, Inner universe, Time in a bottle, Nella Fantasia and of course their own beautiful songs like "Save our Lives" (the music video is a cinematic masterpiece) or "White Night". I checked your playlist to recommend songs for you. I think you should check their Bohemian Rhapsody. If it's one of your favorite songs, I'm sure you'll love Forestella's version If Michael Reiter's first favorite request of Forestella is always this Scarborough Fair, mine is Bohemian Rhapsody, which made me knocked down and turned me a huge fan of them. The more you love the original, the more you can see how much Forestella made it their own and did a justice to the song at the same time, with grand respect and love for the original. There are multiple versions, usually reactioners chose Mystique encore concert live version but it's so dark to see their acting in the song. I recommend Forestella Queen's best songs compilation video on KBS Jeonju channel, which has 3 Queen renditions including the very first performed Bohemian Rhapsody in Immortal Songs. (There was singular video for a few years, but now geoblocked. ) As their bass Ko WooRim is on his national duty of military service till 2025 May, 3 of Forestella sang Queen's The Show must go on as trio. You should check it out, too!

I don't think it's right to introduce him as a countertenor because he's not an opera singer. He is clearly a rock singer. Of course, he has a great head voice and is an artist who is leading Forestella's music with his musical talents such as writing lyrics, composing, and producing.

Cho Mingyu is an operatic lyrical tenor. When he and Hyang ho (a tenor/countertenor who can also sing low notes) sing together it can be confusing sometimes because they blend their voices so beautifully. I love how all four have distinctive voices and are able to blend all four impeccably.❤️

@@Kookiepookie2025 technically a man who can sing in a lower range, like baritone, but can use a falsetto voice to go into soprano range would be called a countertenor. true male sopranos, castratos, don't really exist anymore, because they were castrated to retain their high voice. to my knowledge there are only 2 true male sopranos in opera today, and they were flukes of genetics in that their voices never deepened even though they went through normal puberty.
