In this episode we go over the Forester chainsaw weed eater blade. I run that blade on my Stihl FS90R and we also use my Stihl MS170 and Stihl HT56C pole pruner.

Those weedeater saw blades work awesome! I've used a couple carbide tipped blades and they go through those small saplings like a hot knife through butter! They teach you pretty quick that you have to cut on the left side of the blade, for weedeaters that spin counterclockwise. Hit a sapling with the right side and it'll sling the blade pretty quick. Keep it away from your ankles!!! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ODTEQK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You are exactly right, took me about 5 minutes to realize what side of the tree to come in on. It'll take off on you if you hit the wrong side.

Back when I worked as a groundskeeper we had a brush blade with handlebars, shoulder sling and a beefier gear box you could really get down and mow down the underbrush. Always helped having a second person dragging the limbs and chipping as you cut so you didn’t have to slow down

Boy I wish I had someone pulling brush out! I would definitely have the handlebar version if I did this often.

Yes I understand, but having never been in there before I was worried about what the mower would find. I've already found old fence and hay rake metal parts buried in there.

I had one of these 25 years ago by far the most dangerous tool in the world if there’s more than one person on the job what happens is you’re going along with your Weedwhacker chainsaw head and you get to a tree and it doesn’t cut all the way through instead it kicks back meaning the same direction is spinning and the guy standing next to you catches it in the neck it’s equivalent to standing behind someone hitting golf balls with a sickle
@TKCL

I can see that, luckily 99 percent of the time I work alone. I can tell you that it matters what side you cut the tree on, one side it cuts great, the other it takes off on you.

I have used the 7" blade to clear roughly an acre and a half of land. The 7" is much lighter, and is easier on your trimmer. I originally thought I wouldn't like it as much, but found that I liked it better because it is not as heavy. So if you have concerns about the strain it puts on the gear box, I recommend using the smaller one. Plus it is a little easier on your back. Have a great day. CJ

Because it's quite simple and VERY different for every make and model weed eater. Stihl sells a cup and nut for adding any type of blade. I already had it and used it. Use whatever your brand weed eater calls for when adding blades of any kind.

For the bigger stuff like 1"+, I found you have to rev the engine high then just quickly go into it.....zzt. If you rev engine too low like you normally would a weed wacker & try to churn thru it, you lose control very quickly and it could dangerously bounce back toward you (as I'm sure you found out at 4:40) I also ended up taking off the guard because it would get caught on vines & thorns all the time which just would cause more risk trying to yank it back out. All in all tho, freakin awesome blade...it's one of the only ones that will get thru the thick stuff with relative ease.
