Radelet Peak - A Three Day Trek in The Yukon's Remote Backcountry

I use a self designed route to head into The Yukon backcountry for Radelet Peak. This took place from September 18 to 20th, 2022.

This peak was named after my great-grandfather! He was on the survey team way back when. Great video. I guess KZbin recommended it because of my last name... Cool channel as a bonus! I pictured the area covered in trees and therefore inaccessible and difficult -- but wow, it's stunning. I better go!

No offense to the human species, but Rocco has them beat by a "Country Mile"!! He doesn't complain, argue or sleep in. He has total trust in his owner. I watch him scamper about, exploring new sites. saying to himself: "If he can do it, so can I"!! I watch him get pampered and loved. The Creator made him just for you. Foresty! When you first got the minivan and started posting about your custom job on that I was going through some rough times. Your content was really therapeutic. I have the same issue with forgetting things so I have a printed list that I check ever item as I put them in. It’s helped a lot. I do long distance hiking with my dog so she has a list too. There is a company that makes serious gear for dogs, called Groundbird Gear. I have only purchased a DCF bowl which weighs nothing but cost like 18 dollars plus shipping. Going light is not cheap. I have worked on my dogs sleep system and I use a ridge crest pad cut in half and a down quilt I purchased on Amazon. It’s fairly light and warm, about one pound. I also carry a jacket and rain coat. Maggie is a 45 pound hound mix with short hair so keeping her warm is very important to me. She does sometimes put her head in with me at night which is good. I feed her Purina 30/20 mix which is higher in fat and protein, it’s made for active dogs. I feed her more on the trail than at home. We hike between 15 and 20 miles on average per day. Take care

You can definitely save money making your own dinners for overnight backpacking. Instant ramen, instant rice, and couscous all make great bases for meals. Textured vegetable protein is a great way to add something meat like to the meal, dried or fresh veggies add a little color, and a few simple spices do wonders for flavor (salt and MSG after a long day always do the trick). It’s easy to get Asian, Indian, Greek, or Italian flavored meals from any of those combinations. My favorite this year has been a spicy peanut butter ramen I end up making for every trip. If you’re looking for more calories oil will carry the team, olive oil or coconut oil bring flavor and calories

The amount of hiking, bushwhacking, trail maintainance and mountain climbing you do is far beyond what even avid outdoors people would do but I must admit it’s not my favourite part of your videos. I am more impressed with your problem solving skills. Figuring out mechanical problems, building your van with the best use of space and your willingness to take on and document any issues that come your way.
