Hi Paul your cover keeps haunting me and I am drawn back to listen time after time.Are your piano skills self taught or did you have any professional tutoring?
@paulwwells Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words Keet. I had piano lessons in my childhood and teens and completed the piano exams. However, I could play before taking lessons and now I figure out arrangements without reference to anyone else's sheet music.

It's 2019 and I still return to this cover, it's so epic, so clear, so beatifull. Greetings from Poland from a middle-class keyboard player.

You are very kind orikalisz - it is heart warming to know that a recording made so many years ago is still giving some pleasure.

Why can the majority of my generation not appreciate music played so beautifully, or the entire beauty of the song itself. makes me sad :( I aspire to play as well as this, Love the video

Most covers I listen too for a few minutes then swipe to next but this rendition I listen and admire to the very end.

Thank you Keet. KZbin seem to do everything to get the viewer to browse and move on to something else before the end of the video. Thank you for staying through to the end.

It is not boring. It is very kind and encouraging. I'm losing the fight to get time to record any more videos. I have been playing a long time (since early childhood). The best thing to do is get a good instrument with built in reverb so that it sounds good through headphones and just play whatever you like the sound of.

Thanks. I come up with my own arrangements - I gave up with sheet music, both buying it and trying to sell my arrangements to the big companies, a long time ago.

@bppool Thanks for you comment about video quality. I'm using a Canon PowerShot SX210 for the video and recording the sound separately then putting the two together. The picture should be HD. It takes longer to set up everything, and to do the editing, but I think the end result is worth it.

Just recently discovered your channel and been watching all your videos :) This one is my favourite, as for me everything about it is perfect! You capture the atmosphere of the original, the notes and timing are spot on, and you got that Roland set up perfectly. Well done! Thanks for at least doing a top down view so we have a chance of learning it without sheets.

Thank you for your very kind comment. I have kicked off the process of making more sheet music and I will try to make more tutorials.

I'd love to see a tutorial for this. Or if you do get round to making sheet music I'd happily buy a copy! If you're happy to provide it for free then do set up a patreon account or similar :)

Tell me. please, how long have you been playing piano and what is a chance for a guy like me (over 50) to play 5% as good as you...:-) (with some little music background, playing from time to time my CASIO WK200 (mostly with headphones not to annoy my wife :))

Hi love your videos and I love playing the piano and love this song. Where did you get your sheet music from and also what settings would you suggest for this song?
@paulwwells9 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for your kind comment. Sorry there is no sheet music. I would suggest (as seems to work best with everything) a grand piano sound with added base below about C2 and added elec piano above.
@warlockzone95967 жыл бұрын
Great arrangement, nice feel!
@paulwwells13 жыл бұрын
@Martianfan Thanks for commenting and favoriting. Just listening to you version now. I can hear that the arrangement is all there and about as good as it can be under the pressure of a live performance.

@WKerryUK Thanks. The electronic sound of the original has dated quite a lot now - at the time it would have sounded space agey. I've added Floyd to the todo list and I'll have a listen and see what I can find.

Hi Paul, I'm a 15 year old lad, and about 2 years ago, I started playing on a keyboard. However after about a year, I started to lose interest, and now I want to start playing again. Do you have any advice? It would mean a lot coming from someone who I watch quite a lot! By the way, this is my favourite video right now!
@paulwwells10 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dylan. 1. Get a good keyboard with good headphones so you can play whenever you like (I really could have done with these at age 15, now they're fairly easy to get hold of). 2. Record and upload to KZbin - its a good way to force yourself to bring a song up to performance level and to move on to new songs afterwards. 3. Only play what you really want to play. If a song doesn't sound good then give up and try another song.
@apollofs2410 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Paul, I will defiantly try this!

Hi beautiful playing thankyou for the share. Would there be any possibility of you playing Vandervalk Eye Level. My brother used to play this on his piano and it really is a wonderful tune thankyou :D
@paulwwells9 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'll be honest I'm getting very little time to do any recording these days, I have a couple of tunes in the pipeline to record sometime. I didn't know the name of this tune until you brought it to my attention just now. I always thought it was too I-IV-Vy, but listening to it again these years later I can hear that the tune and the melody are its strengths. Gosh, theme tunes used to be long.
@Dclangers9 жыл бұрын
Hi again thankyou for replying to me. If you do ever find the time I'm sure I will not be the only person to appreciate this wonderful tune. It really does sound fantastic played on the piano/keyboard. As for the tune sounding long why make a great one short lol :D I'll keep my fingers crossed xx

By the time I'd reached their little red brick house, Carrie and her father were gone....Fire suddenly leapt from house to house. The population packed and ran, and I was swept along with them, aimless and lost without Carrie. Finally, I headed eastward, and my only hope of survival; the boat out of England.

In the same theme song as well as a screening of the film lies a lot of nostalgia. I believe that the subject of Herbert George Wells under the title The War of the Worlds, this prediction of our future. Because there is nothing that moves hearts as truth served on a tray of science fiction. While Excellent music artist Jeff Wayne emphasizes the meaning of all this for our future .., they try to learn this song on the example of the great lessons of artistry shown - thank you. And this we know from a book of - After the beep, the fifth angel followed the fall of the mighty meteorite. With an open pit, perhaps crater emits smoke veiled the sun and dimmer air. Together with the smoke spreading to the ground locusts. These insects are sometimes in the stories of biblical and prophetic comparisons, but this kind, which rises with the smoke emanating from the open pit, is perhaps the most bizarre scarecrows ever described in the Bible. Locusts This is similar to (1) war-horse, has (2) a golden crown on his head, (3) a human face (4) women's hair, (5) the lion teeth (6) iron armor and (7) the tail with a stinger , abdomen resembling a scorpion. The noise of their wings sounds similar to creak and crunch (8) of the car, when horses pulled him into battle. That swarm is king. His name (9) destroyer was expressed in two biblical languages as Abaddon and Apollyon. This angel, or rather a demon, comes from the depths of a locked until the fall of the star.
