@@adamcarrington2818 I think of S4 as "the Love season". Blake wooed Krystle and then they got re-married, Fallon had her fling with Peter and then she and Jeff fell in love, Alexis and Dex, Steven and Claudia were married, even Adam and Kirby started pulling together in a weird sort of way. A lot of romance!
@adamcarrington28183 жыл бұрын
@@petec434Very true, I've never thought of it like that before, what a lovely way to look at it! Maybe that's why for me though around half of it lacks the bite of the previous two seasons. Though of course it's still brilliant. With Alexis, Dr. Nick, Logan Rhinewood and eventually Sammy Jo, for me S2 is definitely the revenge season. Perhaps S3 is a mixture of both! (With more of an emphasis I think on revenge, thanks, of course, to Alexis and Adam!)

Minor quibble: it was actually "make sure the orange juice is freshly squeezed just before it's served to him". Alexis in her own way was being a concerned Mom, supervising Steven's breakfast - this was right when Steven moved back into the mansion, having reconciled with Blake after nearly drowning in the pool when he hit his head on the pool ladder falling in while drunk after arguing with Blake.

Ahhhhh the beginning of another tumultuous relationship on Dynasty. Heather Locklear was so fun in those early years. Those short shorts, her penchant for the demolition derby racing and her general classlessness were a fantastic contrast to holier than thou Aunt Krystle. I thought it was so fun for Krystle to have this trashy little niece around lol. Krystle brought in a lot of “different” elements to the manor, much to Alexis annoyance. Alexis still feels she’s this regal lady of the manor on her high horse and here’s this girl sliding down the banister in electric blue spandex! lol. If I’m remembering correctly, wasn’t there a scene where Alexis called her Trampy Jo lol?? The looks and snide remarks Alexis would give to her were priceless!!
@Kelaiah015 жыл бұрын
Your description of Krystle really isn't all that accurate, though I agree Sammy Jo was fun in those days. And no, Alexis never called her "Trampy Jo". She called her "trampy" or "tramp". It was the internet who came up with the nicknames "Trampy Jo" and "Sammy Ho". I personally just go with "Trampy Ho." XD

I forgot how bad the lighting was in the earlier Seasons....glad they set designer reworked the Staircase.
@adamcarrington28184 жыл бұрын
Nothing at all wrong with the lighting. In fact the more shadowy, dimly-lit evening scenes such as this one that were common in the first few seasons of the show were crucial in adding a unspoken air of menace, mystery and intrigue, particularly in the Mansion. An example here being how Alexis walks down the shadowy passage without answering Sammy Jo's question about who she is. But yes, overall I also agree the Mansion staircase/entrance set re-design from Season 3 onward was an improvement.

How does Alexis get off giving orders to the staff?
@thetruthisthelight0910 Жыл бұрын
She was the former mrs. Carrington whom most of the staff remembers as being the lady of the house, she is very wealthy, in her own, her supercilious English accent is intimidating for some, she is Steven's bio mother, and really, for all his talk-- except a few times, & via Krystal , Blake really never countermanded her ability to give orders to the staff, plus, remember, at one time, I don't know re this scene and I don't remember, she was actually living ON THE PROPERTY in a deeded little house, and using the amenities of the main house, and its' servants and Joseph.

Joan looked terrific here. Great hair, lovely blouse. Eventually she would end up a mixed bag from one show to another, with severe pulled-back hairdos or prison matron suits or stupid hats. It was odd; half the time she'd look so elegant and impressive, but in another scene she'd be a fashion blunder. It was erratic. Not sure if the show's designer Nolan Miller had control over every outfit.
@tonyatmidnight3 жыл бұрын
Collins was more bohemian in her first season, dressing like a free-spirited art professor, and then gradually became more and more a walking Carol Burnett sketch as the years wore on, her wardrobe reflecting not only Alexis' catapult to the creme of corporate society, but also the character's increasing campiness. Alexis in her initial season was a great character, painting, dropping in uninvited to intrude and interfere, sipping champagne while eating take-out pizza. She really was something unique and individual. v.

@@tonyatmidnight Very well put. That was her in a nutshell when we first got to know her.
@nycp19693 жыл бұрын
@@tonyatmidnight Excellent analysis. The show itself had more nuance in seasons 1-3, maybe 4. Alexis does things then you can't imagine is later years, when she is mostly showcased entering and leaving rooms, getting off planes, descending staircases, sprawling on sofas or twirling on office chairs. I love the well alimonied but not independently wealthy early Alexis who hangs out in the Carrington kitchen pretending to make coffee, consulting with a psychic or buying soda from a hospital vending machine. The wardrobe evolution fits her pivot from well to do sophisticated divorcee to oil mogul, but it's actually a process that Joan has discussed in interviews. She said they actively tried different looks before arriving at the over-the-top power suit with the ever increasing shoulder pads. She's mentioned the pirate blouses, like this one, she sometimes wore. I love the variety of hair styles she wore early on, the bangs and especially the pulled back look and the flip. I think the various iterations of the Nancy Reagan look lacked a sense of fun.

I wonder if they hated each other in real life? the scenes look too real between them sometimes. I could see Joan Collins looking down at Heather Locklear especially now with her personal issues.
