greetings. watched almost all of your videos. you often use building reinforcement as a material for forging. question. in this material carbon 0.3% (in Russia so). do you use a special forging method when working with this material? or a different percentage of carbon? thanks .

It would appear that he’s using rebar, which you already said. And as you might have guessed, the problem with that is the carbon percentage is low. He never demonstrates that it’s sharp so it safe to believe that it cannot be sharpened. He’s not doing any special techniques. Not hating though, it’s still a really cool build.

My best friend and I are looking to start knife making, and come the first of the year we will be investing in the tools. Can anyone tell me the specific type of tongs used in the video? I've already been eyeing tongs and there are just so many kinds, not sure what to start with, but i feel this would be a great project to undertake.

No the rust will flake of when forging

Rebar is water quenched way hotter that normal, and still comes out with a low about the right hardness, it has low enough carbon that it doesn't need a temper
