@Sockan2564 жыл бұрын
Actually not correct at all. Medieval maces were about the same weight as swords. It's not a question of how much weight, but where the weight on the weapon is centered. Usually maces are more front heavy to deliver more energy into the hit. Sure you have heavy maces. You also have heavy swords, but on average they were actually very similar in weight.

I like how the one guy lost, just because his weapon was heavy... even though the mass was a clear advantage. I mean, the damage it did to the armor was to the point where the guy inside would likely not be able to breathe, compared to the mild deformation of the light weapon.
@Rulupaul4 жыл бұрын
First of all, any weapon should be as light as possible. They're easier to control and carry that way. Second. The guy didn't lose just cause of the weight. His weapon picked up a very small deformation, whereas the lighter one didn't pick up any damage. Yes, the heavy one did more damage to the armour, but that test is just about strength (not breaking when hit)
@jaxoncooper33544 жыл бұрын
@@Rulupaul No, not every weapon should be as light as possible. It should be controllable but being heavier doesn't make it uncontrollable. This weapon had an axe and mace portion to it, both weapons are meant to be heavy hard hitters and Chris' weapon matched that perfectly. It is perfect in a fight as long as the person using it is strong. If you value weight over ability and damage, this weapon is not supposed to be used by you. In comparison Chris' weapon destroys in the kill test and the tiniest bit of glinting won't change that. That's why in my opinion, Chris presented a weapon that was a parfect Tabar Shispar and he should have won. Also side note, don't start your comment with "Ehm" it makes everyone hate hearing your opinions so much more and makes your argument seem way nerdier.

@@jaxoncooper3354 Very few people are Guan Yu.
@tiredpaladin16444 жыл бұрын
I think its a very strict trade off, if you think about the damage the heavy one would be closer to a 1 hit kill or cripple shot which is obviously the best outcome. I mean the hammer portion punctured the armor on a helmet that man is dead before he hits the ground. However, if you're fighting in a pitched battle how many swings can you get off before the weight starts to make you slow and a quicker fresher enemy is able to slip past your guard. Just one of the trade offs you should consider, it definitely shouldn't be as light as possible but light enough that you can maintain your stamina whilst heavy enough to take the fewest strikes to kill
@inzektorider4 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say for sure since we don't know anyone alive today who personally trained with and used this weapon in a combat situation, but I would venture to guess that the lighter weight weapon forged in this episode would have been more desirable since you would be able to swing it faster and more frequently without injuring or tiring yourself out, especially if it was intended to be a 1-handed weapon as I suspect. If I were betting on two fighters of identical physique and training with this weapon, and one was using Chris's heavier version and the other was using Mark's lighter one, I would put more money on Mark's. As for the results of the strength test, both of them did pretty severe damage to the armor, enough that I would suspect the wearer in both cases would be similarly injured or at least stunned. It's not clear if this weapon ever even encountered plate armor like this; if the expected combatants in the original context of the weapon were more lightly armored, the advantage conferred by additional weight of the weapon would be considerably less.

Honestly, the whole point of a mace is to ignore armor and kill a guy no matter how much protection he has. If you compare the damage they did to the armor, it was clear to me that Chris's weapon was much better at that. Weight is a disadvantage on a sword but a mace is supposed to be heavy.

Send the judges to the Gym, a heavy weapon is not always a disqualification of a proper weapon. Especially when its obviously the most effective.

your not wrong, but they refer if they were in actual battle, imagine trying to kill over and over again.

@@dannycarrick7763 I am, if your a professional soldier (practicing & battling) with this chosen weapon, dont you think the guy would be a beast? I wouldn't wield this weapon if I couldn't crush skulls with 1 strike.

Yeah a little weight training is needed. A weapon like that needs some mass to be effective, 1 strike, 1 keel🔨

Its obviously the most effective if you want to fight empty suits of armor. Against a target that moves, dodges and tries to hit you, that is another case.

Try jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge into the water. You'll be dead as the soft water acts like concrete. Also, it's the same reason why not all trees break in a storm. Sift doesn't mean its not strong. And has the studio tests show, the weapon stayed sharp and did not break.

Instead of doubling the tube with a much thicker tube like Christopher did, inserting a wooden rod would have done the job just as well with much less weight. Then, he could have also quenched the shaft. Dough tested Mark's weapon first and noted how light it was. That's the moment when Mark won. Only a catastrophic failure could have prevented him from wining.
