You know, with a lot of these episodes, I feel like the tests are abusive beyond what's really reasonable for the weapon in question. (ie, "Let's take this saber and repeatedly smash it into a solid chunk of ice.") However, with this one, I think smashing into heavy wooden doors is a task that a poleaxe would have been called upon to actually do historically, and that it would be well within the realm of expectation that it would be able to do so and remain intact.

Sometimes the test is not perfect, but to test against another weapon, a more harsh test must be administered, or else it will be hard for the judges to decide which weapon is better

It's really just to test its exceptional capabilities. A Saber is a weapon for killing men who are lightly armoured. It excels in this task, and any other task would be unreasonable to request of it, but killing lightly armoured men is also a task that can be done by it any sharp object. A steakknife will kill if you just gore someone with it. You have to test it beyond its original use because it's original use is really easy to accomplish.

Maestah in reality, it was really difficult to go through plate armor, but like you said, they were made to go through armor- but the armor was chainmail, not plate armor. You are technically still correct though. (^_^)

@@diegorincon4673 Concussion weapons as poleaxes, maces and hammers are designed to transfer most of the kinetic energy ignoring the armor and killing by trauma instead of slicing and bleeding out the target; think of a person wearing heavi plates but falling from a second floor: the armor barely would help to reduce the internal damage. Also: the poleaxes with a bec du corbin are more than able to puncture armor plates (which anyway, isn't a need to provide fatal damage).

An Poleaxe its a very versatile medieval polearm, is like a fusion between axe, spear, spike and hammer. The hammer normally is used for break armors and shields. The spike for disarm enemy, hurt him and break his defense. The spear for impale. And Axe for attacks in vertical or horizontal.
