This is a fantastic video (shooting, editing, music, acting, humor, etc), and that is a fabulously gorgeous knife. I like that you addressed the Demascus term being used for pattern welded steel the main difference of Wootz demascus and the modern pattern welded demascus is that demascus steel was never a process of forge welding steel together rather it was the smelting that created the pattern, but all that aside, thats a nice knife well done

You're right, and beyond that is the ore itself (wootz) plus the impurities mixed in (vanadium and whatnot) Would be amazing to crack the code of how they did it.

Well done! I think it would be cool to make a chefs knife with a blood groove, top serrations, and a line cutter. Oh and probably a pommel for mashing garlic and peppercorns :) The kitchen can be a war zone and you need every bit of help that you can get!

Now that is a stunning looking knife. Given that my santoku knife is nearing its end of life, I'd love to try and make a replacement with that plysteel. I must first make a forge, sort out an anvil and learn all of the things. Plus a wrist that tells the time would be handy!

All of these are easy peasy. Yeah, anvil prices have gone a bit wonky, but honestly you just need something to bang a hammer on. Coal forge is cheaper (and messier) but will get that forge weld heat you need. Do all the things Matt, and make sure you report back with progress!

Nice job! Next time you chop, pinch the knife right after where the Bolster would be on the blade. Provides stability on the left and right axis so that if you slip nothing bad happens.

It’s definitely a lighting thing. Head on it’s different colors for sure, but tilted even a slight bit and the lines go black
