It's interesting what rebbi akiva said that jews without torah is like fish without water, it seems like there is a certain "spiritual need" in the jewish soul that needs torah, but not to not get punished etc rather because it's life itself to the soul, but I guess if you go back to where our soul comes from & who designed our soul to be desperate for torah it all goes back to our relationship with God.

This man is lacking the main need of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs and that is the need for self-transcendence. Without this need he won't evolve and will drag many other people down with him with false projections.

Do you mind defining self-transcendence? I am familiar of Maslow Hierarchy of Needs but I am interested to know what’s your view point on self-transcendence. IMHO, humility outweighs those needs. Someone can eat and satisfy hunger but what if you a neighbor who is starving for food. Just my two cents.
