I think that building relationships actually makes way more sense but is also easier to do. When you think about it that way it makes it a human interaction as opposed to some kind of self-promotion... I like that. It makes the whole thing more approachable. :)

[ADDENDUM] POST-REMARK- i intended to write 1-2 sentences, Sry its so long! Ya wont hurt my feelings if you dont read it. :) I expect nothing from ya, i simply appreciate Berklee is putting videos up, and putting you in them. ANYWAY, back to original message :) As an utterly and complete virgin in music, im an underachieving poet determined to learn... So far Ive been through 20-30 hours of (studying and absorbing material from internet and i just wanna say- Neil Diercks is NOT just another one of them. Hes still kinda young (im 42 so i can say that) but the fact i can see the diamond inside him as a creative spirit, is exciting. Keep it up Neil, ur making more of an impact than you think you are. Never wait for your time to come, and never move to fast... You made me realize that (the time is now, for yesterday is passed, and tomorrow never comes.) i dont know if u ever literally taught that, but you communicated it by your genuine spirit. I think being a part of berklee is great for you. Instead of thinking only about yourself and how you can monetarily benefit from your gifts and talents, you will benifit 10-100 times more. Anyway, im to lazy lazy for spell check. Thanks again Bro, keep fighting the good fight of faith. Before you know it, all your grinding will reveal a pile of ashes easily forgotten... And with one destined breath, at the appointed time, the diamond in your core (of which i sense clearly without doubt) will shine, and illuminate your perspectives ever more leading you on the right path. {and those semi-savant unemphatic super-tuber-music theory-teachers who have sold them selves to commercialism will only have a pile of ashes to muddle through to make their decisions.) You will have the diamond that lightens the darkness around you. I havent wrote a comment on any video in years, let alone one this long. But I couldnt not say something.

I'm a jazz school drop out. They told me jazz is when you just play what you feel but if that is true, then why does jazz always sound like jazz?

I disagree @3:18 sharing what you are doing with music is important. It takes a lot of work and creative focus put something together. I like hearing about the process i.e. studio, at home recording, instruments etc.
