Disappointingly, the new model specs wise doesn't equal the old eclipse models (efv 110d) Iwith screw crowns in 36mm & 40mm. I have to recommend the Casio Oceanus titanium- caveat: the properiety bracelet is the only negative ( a good fit is possible ).the steeel versions avoid this ( also 2 smaller 'cough' ladies models ).

Cosc certified and you get a quick release bracelet. One of the best deals in the market imo. The conquest is an awesome watch too, they look much nicer in person

As nice as the case, bracelet, and dial are on the Tsuyosa, I can’t seem to get over the president style bracelet on the oysterquartz style case! Somehow it just doesn’t mesh for me! I do own a PRX, but I try my best not to be biased. I don’t think the PRX is the “end-all” for this style of integrated bracelet watches. My personal favorite is the Vacheron.

Tissot really hit this one out of the park. Great size with good proportions, no weirdness with the bezel. Nice lugs you can swap straps on. Great 80 hour power reserve, even the rotor looks fantastic. The fact it’s inexpensive enough that you can afford to get every color to match your sport coats is icing on the cake (make a burgundy dial) 🤌

If I am not wrong they made the first waterprof wristwatch. Hence the Oyster. Also, self winding existed before, but they created the rotor system. Hence the perpetual. I think that in reality everything was more complex, you can look for videos about Rolex history, but there are reasons why they took the lead. Then they become the reference, and started to use the marketing tactics of luxury brands, but in reality their watches were reliable "tools", not a luxury ítem.

Rolex standardized them. Wilsdorf was the best marketer. Lets say, I have to buy 1 to 4 watches and the only choice is Rolex. I would buy the GMT, Sky Dweller, Explorer (sam as GMT essentially with a different bezel) and Submariner. Of course, their claim to fame was Submariner. Given to miners and divers to showcase th toughness and usability of the watch.

IWC founder took US manufacturing practices to Switzerland and then was bankrupt shortly afterwards. meaning the Swiss machining has roots in US manufacturing practices from when US was an industrial powerhouse. Rolex is a British brand, Wilsdorf went to Switzerland due to his nationality, (German), and the British raising taxes on businesses.

As a guy, for me it's all about design and while I love the new colorful dials on the smaller AT's, I don't care for the hour indices and the shape of the date window. that's exactly what i was thinking, the alpinist is easily one of the best everyday watches out there, dressy, stylish, mid high quality for the price and with 200m of water resistance. you can wear it in most formal occasions or use it as a beater for swimming or trekking or whatever. personally i like the baby alpinist most, but every model is just as good

My shop will not deal in preowned Rolexes (Rolexs’, Rolexi?) anymore. The fakes are everywhere and the newest ‘SuperClones’ are so good you can’t tell without disassembling the movements. Porsche used to have an advertisement in the 1980’s : “Porsche….There is no Substitute”….well if you want a Rolex…there simply is no substitute! Some people continue to try to insist that there are watches that have better specifications…a finer movement…a better clasp…better water resistance..all at a lower price. And yes all that may be true, but it doesn’t matter to a Rolex buyer. A Rolex buyer wants to experience the way…having a Rolex on their wrist makes them feel. Sorry, but you cannot get this…even a fraction of this…by buying anything but a Rolex. The purchase is not “logical”…it’s emotional….and “there is no substitute!”

Nomos looks nice, but it looks to my eye like a $500 to $1,000 watch. I’d happily pay $500-$1,000 but not more. I think they’re around $2,000 to $3,000. I’d rather buy 3 different Tissot watches for that price. 👍

Why does the world want me to hate my Rolex? I saved up for it, waited three years for my AD to get it, and plunked down my hard earned cash to take it home. Could I have bought a good watch for significantly less money? Of course. I own several watches that are quite good and for which I paid less. But I wanted a Submariner for a very specific reason: it is an icon. Say what you will about Rolex and their annoying trade practices. And yes, probably 80% of Rolex owners are posers who bought them just as status symbols and would recognize an A. Lange & Sohn of it bit them on the ass. I bought and arguably paid a premium for the Submariner because it was and remains the very template for almost every dive watch out there. It keeps amazing time and makes me happy every time I check the time. Rolex is what it is. But it's place in the pantheon of Swiss watchmaking cannot be logically denied. The vast majority of Rolex haters seem to me to be the ultimate posers, worse even than those who wear a Rolex for strictly show. It has become trendy to rail against Rolex, so, since they don't have one, Rolex haters now have a perch upon which to sit and throw stones. I love my Sub. And no amount of narrow minded hatred is going to make me feel otherwise. Incidentally, I do not think the woman in this video is a Rolex haters. She is merely pointing out there are other brands and makes it wristwatches that deserve everyone's attention. And she is absolutely right. I suppose, in a way, it's a compliment that Rolex is used as a contrast. I've seen very few videos that proclaim "here are 10 watches that are better than a Timex quartz!" I
