At least some Gen 8 Pokemon like Sandaconda and Hatterene got Gigantamax forms, while Gen 6 only gave Megas to past Pokemon . Diancie is the only Gen 6 Pokemon that gets a mega, and it’s not even in the base game.

The biggest problem with newer generations is they don’t look like they could fit in gen 1 and 2. Dialga is a great looking design, but it doesn’t look anything like you would find in Kanto. The latest starters don’t look like they fit AT ALL alongside the likes of Squirtle. There is too much reliance on old mon, but the designs of new mon candle hold a candle to the original in most cases.

I get that, but I also think that's entirely up to personal preference. I think pokemon designs have gotten quite a bit stronger. Old pokemon have a unique style, but the look of new pokemon feel like they can get more creative than old gen pokemon. I really like pokemon like decidueye or finizen and I dont think those would be possible in gens 1-3 -Tyler

No offense but that is a short sighted way of viewing things. The later Gen Pokémon were not meant fit into Kanto or Gen 1, but rather the region and Gen they were introduced in. With the country, real life location, or that area’s local mythology being the basis or inspiration. Even Gen 1 designs were not exempt from redesigns or revisionist templates. You can easily see this with how drastic or precise the sprites designs Gen 1 were in each game. With details, body proportions, and anatomy tweaked overtime. This applies to the official art as well with Sugimori’s artstyle renderings of Charmander in Gen 1 to Gen 3 Charmander for example.

Do you see non-anime style characters in Pokémon? No, because the art style is different. Therefore, the art style needs to stay consistent. And I’m well aware to the tweaks made to Pokémon. Beta Mankey looks entirely different than finals version Mankey, but it also isn’t in the same style as Digimon Dialga or three year old palatable Quaxly.
