Yep, I lost a bit of footage.... ouch.
However, this knife turned out beautifully! Rough forged finish, beautiful lines, and attention to detail make this knife stand out in any crowd.

Out of all the old knives I think the D-Guard Bowie is my favorite. A massive imposing knife that can really make a difference in life or death situations. And not an exceptionally easy knife to make. I know I've made one myself.

@@ironridgeoutdoors I've been wanting to make a D-Guard knife for a while, but it's still a bit out of purview for now, until I get a few more things set up in my shop (and finish clearing out my shop so I can actually use it). But this is a great knife and I love your videos.

@@Cloudstrife112233 thanks. This was my first time making one. I spent at least 15 hours getting the handle to fit all together. Hopefully it'll go smoother the next time around.

I've lately been making knifes with deerhorn handles , no forge just angle grinding the shapes and putting on handle . I drill holes in the horn like everyone does. I just noticed your drill bit . Is this somthing you took the time to do , and allows u to mill out what's left between holes ? I'm intrested if so . How do I do it , for standard size iron bit...thanks new sub.

I bought that bit off of Amazon. Here is the link for it: amzn.to/3EAYAGK I also really like the Rotozip bits for my dremel. They work better for smaller areas in my opinion. amzn.to/3hLCqJ1

Excellent knife but it'd be a lot easier to forge if you let it get up to temp.

Must have taken a year to forge that with that tiny hammer!
@ironridgeoutdoors
@ironridgeoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Haha, I used a larger hammer to forge the profile of the blade. I like the smaller one for forging in the bevels and details.
