try to forge a giant katana with 59 inches of blade, 14 inches of grip, 4 inches of width and 9mm of thickness, kind of insane but nothing impossible

What is the point of putting cement on the blade and putting it in fire and oil?

It creates a distictive patern as well as hardens the edge of the blade even more, the top of the blade is softer than the cutting edge. It helps with flexability while still having a hard keen edge.
