Forging a knife from a truck leaf spring. I forged this knife on my 55 pound grizzly anvil with a homemade forge. This custom hand forged knife has a east Indian rose wood inlay with nickle sliver scales. I have never tried any inlay work before and I had a lot of fun with this one. This knife is 12 inches long with a 7 inch blade forged from a leaf spring.

Nice knife but do you know what steel you're using? Leaf springs are a total crap shoot, could be 4140, 5160, 1080 etc etc and it's crucial to know which one you're dealing for the proper heat treat, otherwise you're just making a pretty pointy paper weight that won't hold an edge or may be far too brittle for any practical use.

Good old truck leaf springs. Your best work comes from truck springs bro. I don't know how you do that in the middle of that heat. It is 98 degrees here in Virginia. I hope you have gallons of water nearby. Another awesome knife jake.
