Very nice. Did you do any tempering with it? If so, what temps did you use and how many cycles?

Did you do an oil quench with that, also what temp did you temper it at? I've not worked with pipe wrench jaws before is why I ask. Otherwise it looks like a good blade.

Yes, the Jaws on most rigid pipe wrenches say oil hardened so that what I use to quench them in, I did two one hour cycles at 400F for temper. I appreciate you watching!

Is that high carbon steel?

The name brand ones are, they harden nicely but even then one of this size would be a little heavy for everyday use. I made this one as more of a novelty item. I appreciate you watching.

How good of a knife does this make? I’m not familiar with steel from wrenches is why I’m asking. Genuinely curious. Does it hold up well?

It will hold up pretty well, I make them mostly as novelty items for plumbers and mechanics. They look nice on a shelf but would be on the heavy side for regular use. I appreciate you watching!

How do you know what steel it is made off?? Won't you need that for the Heath treatment?

Rigid pipe wrench jaws are made of oil-hardening steel, I have made several of these knives and they always harden nicely as long as they are name-brand. They are still more of a novelty item for mechanics and plumbers. I treat it as 5160 and it seems to work well. I appreciate you watching.
