I'm a cutlery amateur cutter, working only with carbon steel and stainless steel. I loved your work. It is not enough to have the best tools if you do not know how to use them, it is no use knowing the materials if you do not know the technique of how to use and work them. And you know very well how to master both. That's why you won one more subscriber. Congratulations master.

As ever Freerk. Your craftsmanship is second to none my man. I truly wish I could afford one of your creations because you will only make so many in your lifetime. And to own an "FW" stamped creation would be a family heirloom for generations to come. Great job my friend.

I think it's "almost" a Khukuri- particularly a sirupate design. Appreciate the dedication but the Ratio of width of top Curve and middle to bottom shouldn't be same and the notch is must. Thanks for the making a symbol of my nation ,thank you again 😃

love seeing smiths work,but don't know much more then the basics.however what is it he's doing by cutting cross cuts then forging then drilling and then forging what does that do?is it for style and design or making stronger the steel?
@stephanellenberg2871
@stephanellenberg2871 4 жыл бұрын
Both, I think. As far as I know the layering is done to combine the qualities of two different types of steel. A hard one for a sharp edge and a more mallable one so the blade doesn't break. The beautiful look is a welcome byproduct of the process. Not sure what the drilling was about though.
@tonynelligan1930
@tonynelligan1930 4 жыл бұрын
@@stephanellenberg2871 nope that's not what he's doing.for super steel one only dents the edge then using hypercold like 50 below freezer to tighten the atoms up,then one reheats it and cools it down 12-15 times. as well what you are talking about is japanese welding style no drilling holes like that.i don't know about the cross lines or dimples he puts into that still.but thxs for offering help.

@AegeanEpiphany

- Handle made from: 3 separate sections each side: - Red Deer stag horn from near Lochbay, Isle of Skye, Scotland - Snakewood/Letter wood (Brosimum guianense (= Piratinera guianensis) (family Moraceae) (Letterwood, Leopardwood) in South America, an exotic hardwood prized for its highly figured grain) - African Blackwood ‘Mpingo’ or Grenadilla

@Xtoxinlolinecronomicon
@Xtoxinlolinecronomicon 5 жыл бұрын
Only flaw I can really see is that you didn't really replicate the ''M'' hook traditional design at the base of the blade. It's actually not really important, but traditional kukri's have them. It apperantly is a homage ( or something else, I don't know for sure my lore on the nepal religion is hazy) to the God Shieva. The God of destruction in the hindoe religion. But as I said, it's not really that important as more weapon smiths don't replicate that design. I have a kukri myself, bought in Nepal and it has it. Not the cool damascus design however haha. That looks really good Freerk. Great sheath too.
