You have really nailed the ancient aesthetic; everything about the ring could have been made thousands of years ago. Well done. When you were forming it with the wooden blocks it curled up, a living snake! It was beautiful. Silver is typically worked cold, not hot. That would explain your sterling cracking when you forged it. Silversmiths work the metal cold almost exclusively, annealing when the piece work hardens. If you want to try forging sterling cold, you may have better success. Of course, it tarnishes, which your pure silver ring won't. Thank-you for the videos.

Having said that every time I look at the beautiful engraved ( free hand ) Brass hammer makes me lean back to that one keep it up !

Wow! I've tested to make some rings and pendants out of silver and ive been happpy woth the results, but this made me want to go further. You're skilled! I might try to replicat what you did to get started but I have a small emerald i found so i think ill use that. But this was awesome, you just earned a new subscriber.

pretty neat kid! your quite talented, and give hope to a severely grumpy middle aged mason with a poor outlook on where society is headed. If I ever find out I have a son out there I hope to hell he is more like you than one of these other tech geeks who will be lost in space when tech ceases to be someday, hopefully! lol

Haha thank you for the kind words! There are more young folks with there head screwed on strait than the news would lead you to believe! I feel like the tides are shifting and in a world of useless and sad people it is now cool again to be confident and competent.

Nice job. Working with basic tools is the best way to improve your skills. Expensive tools do not make a jeweler. Learn to use hard and medium solders. It’s not that difficult. You’ll do well.
