Cool man. A nice one. If you want arrowheads give me a yell, I flint knap. I mainly use flintridge but I have so much flint from all over the country. You are doing really good. Thanks Jim

I'm new to sandcasting. Every time I fill the mold with the delft clay and pound it down, the clay will "split" open on the mold. Usually it splits in a different part of the mold, that I'm pounding. I hammering the clay in fairly hard. Is it possible I'm doing it too hard? I just can't understand what's causing this. When I turn the mold over, the bottom of the mold is nice and smooth. Can you please tell me what could be wrong? Thank you in advance.

Try not pressing down so hard or using a larger block to press, it took me several attempts to get my first successful pour so just keep trying stuff until it works! Good luck!

Where'd you get the first arrowhead?

I keep getting voids like an air bubble right beside the fill hole. Any ideas on how to stop that?
@mcartandtool65802 жыл бұрын
Make sure you don’t have any loose sand in your mold, also try getting your metal hotter before you pour. and most importantly fill up your sprue (fill hole). The liquid metal in the sprue pushes down on the metal in the mold and helps force it in to small details. If you are only pouring just enough metal to make your item, the top, right by the sprue won’t be under any pressure. Hope this helps good luck!

try adding and air release channel, I would do that at the rear of the arrowhead and perhaps use that as an eyelet to strign the arrowhead as a pendant. I found that rleseaing air is just as important as getting the silver hot enough, to get a good cast without pockets.

Would you try to fire that ? Lol reusable and the same weight every time
