Great to see your work being published again! All of my tongs use your method of stock isolation. The only other smith who comes close is Mark Aspery. Keep forging!

Glenn Wiebe I think many, many smiths would agree with you, but, the best part is that neither of them is competing. They both love to share knowledge and teach. I just met Mark at the NEB Fall conference and he was as congenial as he is talented. Both are exceptional...but there are many others....

Good one, lot of attention to detail here Brian, moving the stock all the time, hitting from different directions.

Looks like you didn't give credit here either to where you got your design or skills...

Do you live in Texas? If I come from Maryland, would you make a hammer for me? I will strike for you also.

I'm in Oklahoma. You can come by anytime I'm here at no cost. I offer a one week class on tools to make tools that will enable you to go home with the tools so you can make tools with others, but I'd have to charge quite a bit more for my time if you just wanted to come and strike for me to make you a hammer. I charge $300/day for a class and that is the same price I charge for a hammer. I do this to enable others. I can forge a hammer in less than an hour, but not with an inexperienced striker. It takes quite a bit more. It also takes quite a bit more time to grind, heat treat, and handle a hammer than it takes to forge it.
