@@lightfreedomyt "we do not suffer" ---- Please clarify how one gives, pardons, and forgives without suffering. A man neglects to bring his own lunch. In charity, you give him your lunch. You thus remove his hunger and take that hunger to yourself. This is what love does. God is Love. Christ is God made manifest. Love does not erase the consequences of evil, but overcomes evil with good. The reward for goodness is in becoming a good person. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was seated in a gathering with the Sahabah when he looked towards the entrance and said, “A man of Paradise is coming.” At that instance someone who seemed to be very ordinary entered the mosque where they were seated. A Sahabi was curious as to why the Prophet .‘ said this, so he followed the man to his house. This Sahabi told the man that he was a traveler and stayed as a guest. For three days the Sahabi saw nothing unusual, so he finally told the man what the Prophet had said and asked him what was so special. The man thought for a long time and said, “There might be one thing - before going to sleep every night I forgive everyone and sleep with a clean heart."

Notes from this video 🔴 the verse we are talking about Surah shura verse 40 :The reward of an evil deed is its equivalent. But whoever pardons and seeks reconciliation, then their reward is with Allah. He certainly does not like the wrongdoers. 🔴The man we are discussing about Imam ahmad ibn u hambal 🔴The story Imam ahmad was tortured so badly in his life (he was in prison) torturer attempted to kill him , all of his skin was taken out from his back. But he spent last years of his life in peace as he was taken out of that torture. And the entire Muslim world sided with him. But he would forgive every person from prison who would come to him ,cry, and ask for forgiveness from him. So one day his son asked that what about those ppl who died and did not ask for forgiveness from you? To which he replied : "listen oh my son ,Allah s.w.t said "The reward of an evil deed is its equivalent. But ""whoever pardons and seeks reconciliation, then their reward is with Allah."" He certainly does not like the wrongdoers. " He said that when i came across thiss ayyah when i studied it i came across a narrration from am hassan al bassi . He narrates that when the day of judgment comes all of the creation would be on thier knees .Allah s.w.t will say "dont stand up unless i owe you some ajar " and no one will stand exeept for those who used to forgive and pardon in this world . So imaam ahmad said that i wanna be one of those who will stand up when everybody would be on thier knees . So i have forgiven all those ppl that have died. He said that whats upon a man is to make sure that Allah s.w.t will not punish a person on the day of judgement on behalf of him . 🔴Lesson We should forgive ppl who have done bad to us and even if they are not sorry . Not bcz of them but bcz we want to be closer to Allah s.w.t. we want to stand up when everybody would be on thier knees . subhanallah! Imagine, what a great pleasure would it be. (If u r reading this plz prau for my family and me . We are struggling financially and some other problems . Pray that may Allah give us ease and pray for the mental health of my brother and my future along with my siblings. Jazakillah khair may Allah guide you and me both. ALLAHAFIZZ)

It's one thing to forgive those that genuinely regret the wrong things they do to you. But what if they are not sorry. What if they don't care about your forgiveness. The worst part is, they DENY doing any wrong things to me. Do those kind even deserve forgiveness? If someone is abrasive with me because that's just how they are in general, because that's just their nature, I can forgive that. But if they are only rude to me for no reason but nice to everyone else, that I cannot forgive.

I will have to partially disagree with this sentiment. This isn't about ego, although it can be very circumstantial. For example, many people feel they should forgive if those people became aware of their own wrongs. However, those who don't know will continue to be a toxic person to you again and again as well as to those around you. "Forgive and forget" makes the problem very complex if there is a strong connection to that person; I feel the answer to this is too simple. Maybe in the situation you described, it fits perfectly, but to all, like an abusive mother, for example, or a serial killer uncle, or someone who oppresses your freedom continuously, I don't see how "forgive and forget" can improve that kind of quality.

Assalamu alaykum, I hope everyone and their family is doing fine. I just wanted to ask, how do I know that I have truly forgiven someone? Or should I say, what does it mean to truly forgive someone? I have told myself that I already forgave people but every once in a while when I am reminded of what happened in the past I still remember what they did to me and I feel hurt that sometimes even tears fall in my eyes remembering, and that actually confuses me, makes me think that I have not yet forgiven them. I truly want to let go of it already because more than anyone I am the one suffering because a part of me feels guilty of still remembering and feeling hurt because of what happened in the past. I just want to set myself free.

Naseem Ahmad Yes. Kindness/ love is the most important virtue, God is love, and forgiveness is a form of kindness/ love. If a muslim commands you to hurt or kill someone, then it is a command to disobey the Creator of the universe because forgiveness (a form of kindness/ love) is to try to not hurt or kill people because you love them. This is why sharia law is disobedience to the Creator and a contradiction of the Torah and New Testament. Also: ancient peoples have used a crescent moon and star symbol for an ancient pagan religion ages before Islam was started and before Muhammad was born.

Maybe its unfathomable to accept, but we should be even forgive to non believers cuz they are not lucky like us to know Allah better. They did that cuz they didnt know and thats why we need to pray for them.

But what about forgetting..should we forget what someone did to us? Or forgiving means to be back to normal and no hard feelings ?

Will Allah take our revenge from someone who has hurt us so bad? If we've left all on Allah... Because some people don't deserve forgivness... Sometimes havent even realzied or even asked for it. Then what to do?

If he hasn't asked for your forgiveness, Allah will give you his good deeds in the hereafter. There is a saheeh hadith where the prophet pbuh said to his companions "do you know who is the loser?" The companions said "the one who is poor" the prophet then responded and said "no the loser is the one who comes on the day of judgement with a mountain of good deeds but then will eventually lose all of it as the people he had wronged take them. After he is judged, he will have no more good deeds and there will still be people waiting to get their rights from him by taking more good deeds. Then, the sins of the remaining people he wronged will be given to him and he will enter hell" (I paraphrased that hadith so dont think the prophet said it in those exact words).

I'm struggling to forgive. I'm so full of resentment, but I don't know how to let it go

Think of it as you freeing yourself from the prison of their actions and hurtful ways, more importantly that Allaah will honor you for your magnanimity.

Does anyone know the reference of the hadith that Omar Suleiman is speaking about in this video? The one by Imam Hasan Al Basri? I am trying to check it's authenticity.
