Something this game did better than project warlock, is it tells the Lovecraftian story through level design as you progress and tid bits of lore related items that are one liners. Challenging fights too i loved it

Forgive Me Father is the most underrated boomer shooter to yet have a full release in the year of 2022. I 100%ed Forgive Me Father's achievements on Steam five days prior to writing this comment making it my latest game to set foot on my Perfect Games list. Nice review btw!

Definitely buying Forgive Me Father, love the art style, gameplay and blood. Reminds me of X111 and Borderlands. I'll be taking my time with this game and giving it several playthroughs🙂🙂

@@ThisIsYourGodNow Oh it very much isn't worth 20 bucks. Game is very style over substance. It looks good, but the more you play the more you notice the devs either didn't know how to expand on the game's core level design, or they simply were to lazy to try. Many of the levels have poor design or feel like they are the same copy paste hallways with the same copy paste enemies with slight variation. Story is pretty bland. The lore files honestly serve so little purpose and actively break the flow of the gameplay. It legit makes me question why they added them. Even the voice acting (mostly for the girl) sucks. Lines come off incredible forced and unnatural. The final nail in the coffin is the balance. The game goes from super easy to difficult out of literally nowhere in later parts of the game. This wouldn't be an issue if the game steadily grew more difficult. But it doesn't feel this way at all. Furthermore, there needs to be a more efficient way to get ammo. The game has a tendacy to be randomly stingy with bullets in a game that wants you to shoot a lot of them. Another issue with the balance comes with the characters. The priest outshines the girl in literally everyway. Far better va work, and better skills that focus on being invunerable, healing, and sealing your enemy in place. In fact I would argue the devs are wrong about the girl being for more aggressive play. The priest literally rewards you for being aggresive by giving you ivunerability. It really makes me scratch my head and wonder what the devs were thinking here. Probably the coolest thing in the game besides its art style is the level up system, but even that falls flat later in the game. Skills begin to take far too long to get. This is especially an issue when there are a fuck ton of skills with many being game changers. Personally I believe a skill tree like this only works in a game long enough to support it. And Forgive me father is not one of those games.

About a dozen or so hours on your first playthrough, but speed runners will have this game done in like 20 minutes 😆

I almost gave up on the game in the beginning because i thought the game was a wolf3d/blake stone clone (no verticality whatsoever) and the gunplay was sht af in the 1st level, i hope it gets better later on

5 hrs in the game, I'm in auto-pilot mode. Playing it on the second hardest difficulty and I'm just getting bored.

It should be a roguelite or roguelike game, with more upgrades, to make the make more replayable, then it would be worth the price

it definively wouldnt, roguelikes are 30minutes games with artificially extended difficulty, and are made when people have tight budget
