Madness effects could include dissapearing fake pickups, enemies that look innocent until they attack, enemies that look like different enemies until you attack them, fake extra enemies that dissappear when you get close, reduced aim assist, faster movement speed, etc...

Sounds cool on paper, but I can picture people hating this feature if it was actually implemented like this. It fits a slower paced survival horror game pretty fine, not much in a game where gathering info in a rapid pace while running around and shooting is priority. If the game lies to you and you die because of it that's not your fault, especially in this system where it incentivises damaging enemies aka the thing you should be doing in order to get through a section.

@@TheMikirog You have to make it rare, not constant. You can also make it a trade off, like fatster movement speed as the upside.

Four nights prior to me writing this comment I 100%ed Forgive Me Father's achievements making it my newest game on Steam to set foot on my Perfect Games list out of my 16 Perfect Games that I'm currently rocking! Glad to hear it turned out as good as the early access campaign suggested! Can't say I agree with the auto-switch suggestion, as I prefer to keep track of these things myself and consider it a self-inflicted, gameplay appropriate failstate to get stuck on a weapon you're out of ammo for, but to each their own. A menu option for that might be a one-size-fits-all solution there.

The game is really good and fun, the ammo scarcity and the save points instead of checkpoints are really holding it back for me tho. The gunplay enemies and art style are incredible and i do recomend playing it to anyone who loves fast fps’ like i do. 7/10
@Malefication2 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with the save system, I'm really not a fan of fixed save points in action-packed shooters. If devs really don't want to allow the player to save-scum, just disable quick saves in active combat zones, instead of slowing down gameplay by encouraging repeated trips back and forth between save stations. Also, having to hold down the interact button to open the proper save menu, no thanks. Overall the game does look like great fun, though.
@cock_sauce83367 күн бұрын
Ultrakill has a nice solution to this. There fixed savepoints that you have to cross to get further. Usually after or before a big fight or after a long section. This game is more sparse on checkpoints. But I'd say the pain he got from this is self inflicted. If you aren't good enough, lower your difficulty. Issue is, the beginning is quite easy and later on it becomes a real challenge so you may not want to redo all the levels.

To adress the points you made about upgrading too early, the devs actually said that the ammo type for your weapons begin appearing mixed with other ammo only after you upgrade it. For instance, laser beam uses electric ammo, and electric ammo will begin spawning after you have at least 1 electric weapon.

The journalist is a pothead. I really liked her voiceacting. It fits the narrative. She did not know what is going on half of the time because she was smoked. Autoswitching weapons would make the game easier let alone ignoring the empty weapons. It would give you too much time to kill and deal with the situation. Just like free saving would ruin this game. It ruins games overall. Fixed save points are great. Many times i was out of the ammo and skills and i did not know if i will be able to make it to the save location and i loved it every single time. These was my favorite moments because i felt something. It is very similar to Dark Souls. You are broken, desperate and out of everything and you do not know what is between you and safety and it is awesome. It would be totally killed if we would be able to spam saves. It would make this game more generic about a big chunk of cliché that makes games so bad, bland and boring in these days.

This is cool but the more I look at it, the more I think it would have been more interesting a slower paced game. As it is it's just a cool art style away from any other circle strafing boomer shooter running on GZdoom (assuming this uses that engine).
@Vipersrule2 жыл бұрын
You'd think that but it feels a lot different in my experience than those types of shooters. I find with the gunplay you have to be very deliberate. It's a lot more difficult to circle strafe around a room and hit your targets in this game than what you've describing. It's still definitely worth a pickup imo.

Very clearly doesn't run on GZDoom. Also yes, as the previous reply points out, it doesn't play quite as easy as it looks.

@@Wickettone1988 I got frustrated a few times with the lack of quick saving, but one thing I noticed was that you kind of just develop formulas or routing for those difficult parts. It's like solving a puzzle where each attempt you add a new piece. Kind of like ultra nightmare attempts in Doom. The lack of ammo is legit though. So many times I had to do a check before entering an area, which as Kirk describes takes away from the push-forward gameplay the devs were hoping for.
