I’ve always liked Gary Coleman on Diff’rent Strokes. Great actor. I remember hearing about his struggles but never realized how bad they truly were. It is sad that 11-12 years after this episode aired, he would no longer be here on Earth. A great talent gone WAY too soon. RIP Gary Coleman!

Yeah, kinda lousy to work a full time job through your entire childhood, trusting confidently that your parents had your long-term financial interest in mind, and then to turn 18 years-old and find out that you are (basically) broke. No excuse...these parents were woefully irresponsible, and ought to be ashamed of themselves.

It made Gary VERY bitter & not able to trust ANYBODY! Gary grew up to be miserable and didn’t feel like he EVER was appreciated. I was & still is a HUGE fan of Gary as a child that made me want to enter “The Industry” as a child. It’s his “adoptive” parents that caused this pain for him by bleeding him dry of his bank account after working as a child very ill. I actually saw Gary at the bank once and decided to let him be with his privacy. It’s the least thing I can do for my child idol. R.I.P. Gary Coleman U finally at peace.

Imagine what Gary Coleman had to go through in his life. He was born with a kidney problem, had to work through getting treatment, being thrusted into the limelight at a young age and people he trusted stole his money and he never did find out where his money went. Even when he didn't have anything, vultures wanted to take advantage of him.

This was sad to watch... I don't know if The Coleman's are still alive, but I hope they all had a chance to reconcile before Gary's passing.

It just seems as though Gary's parents were not aware enough or in tune with Gary to become that removed from him. It almost feels as if they were fantasizing like children playing with dolls.

Terrible parents. I’m not rich, but I have a mother like this, all about what I can do for her. When I was blessed to finally start making really good money, I shared it with her but she was not proud of me or happy for me as in if you’re making that kind of money you’re obviously succeeding in your career and seven years of post- secondary education is paying off for you. Nor was she happy for me in the sense of, I know you can take care of yourself and you don’t have to depend on anyone for your financial security. No, it wasn’t any of that. It was now you can give me even more than you’ve been giving me. It was sickening.

R.I.P Gary Coleman. For all the supposed theivery that was done by his parents, in the end it was those parents that he needed. I find it odd that whenever a celebrity of any color hits a rough spot or is suicidal, they NEVER turn to a black person, but rather run to a white person every time, for comfort and end up being used anyway. He should have stayed in contact with his folks. He didn't have a single black "friend", outside of Todd Bridges but he was going through too much himself. Somebody could have "pulled his coat tail" about what was really going on. I don't think his parents personally did him wrong, YES they were found liable because they were his "Managers", but everyone who worked for them on Gary's behalf are more to blame.
