Forgotten Friends Friday! - Favorite Floral Books for Junk Journals!

Today I'm sharing some of my favorite floral books to use in my journals! I find them at thrift stores, estate sales, Thriftbooks.com and Amazon. We'll pull pages and make some ephemera for future journals! Thanks so much for crafting with me today! xoxo

I am always amazed how easy it is for you to immediately know what you are going to make from each image or page. I just don’t “see” it like you do and struggle with knowing the “right” thing to make. I turn the pages of the books and know I love the image but that’s as far as my mind goes. I need to watch this again and again so I get the same inspiration you get. Thank you for showing us how easy it really is.

Ohmygosh Gayle! Thank you so much for this flower book video. I watched a while back and now re-watched this week to write down the titles. Some are very expensive as I think you suggested but I found a reasonable Victorian Flower Garden and it arrived today. It is just amazing and no doubt will be so hard to cover up one side while using the other, but I can't wait to start playing. Best of all, it is stitched to hopefully easy to get pages out. As always, you have the best advice!♥

Hi Gayle! Those slippery/slick pages in floralegium work great for gelli print image transfer. Of course they transfer in the paint color on the plate, but they look pretty cool. 😎😎😎😎🥰

Hi Gayle . Love all the ideas. I had a thought with the last page you did. You could flip the picket to the other side of the page. So you would have a tuck on one side and a pocket on the other ♥️

I have such a hard time cutting up some of these beautiful illustrations and covering them up, lol. When you were making the belly band with the Edith Holden page, I believe it was, I was thinking...hmmmm, maybe if I do that, I could just use pretty paper clips so they can take it out and read and admire the whole page. ❤ 🤣 I just can't cut those pages up!??

I would LOVE to see you make a BUG JOURNAL!! I don't like bugs in my house or crawling on me, but they are very interesting in the way they are made and the shapes and colors they come in as camouflage for nature.

Hi Gayle - I'm not sure about Montana, but in California our JoAnns has a permanent Singer store set-up inside - they sell machines and accessories, but also do or send out for repairs. I hope that helps. Love your work and your channel. Take care.

Our public library has sewing machines in its Workshop, sometimes called a Maker Space. Maybe that’ll your library does too? That’s how I see all my ephemera because I don’t have a sewing machine😊

Good Morning! ☀️ I’m in Washington State and the rain has subsided giving us some beautiful sunny weather. Your show is a refreshing breakfast watch. Love these ideas. ❤️🕊🥳. I watched a decluttering video prior and it was 10 things to declutter. One was used coloring books and journals 🫣😱 I was like I’m changing the 10 items list she had. 😂. These embellishment-making videos are great! They are far from just make-work until you go on your retreat. It would be lovely for you to try some things from your idea journals for a FFF, too. I've been on an embellishment jag for a couple of weeks and it's a nice break from making journals. (Oh, and Friends of the Library is a great source for $1 or even free books.)

When I first got into doing junk journals I cut out a whole box of flowers from books & magazines. I found a hardcover Edith Holden for 3.50. I hadn’t heard of her at that time. Have been kicking myself ever since!!! Never saw another one!!!!

This was so helpful - thank you - I have some beautiful books with images, but they are all very large and I have difficulty in figuring out how to use them, while keeping the pictures - my next challenge is whether I can use a large page with a single image on it or whether I should just put that one back on the shelf 🤷‍♀️ it’s well over a foot tall - thank you for sharing and I adore the art you create - take care

I don't use floral book pages often in my journals, and I only make a few for myself or friends. I do have a short stack of books to draw from, but have been reluctant to actually use them because I am hesitant to take pages when I know that I will never use them all. Thank you so much for the suggestion to buy pages from Etsy. I had no idea that such an option existed, and it is a solution that is perfect for me. You are the best. In your spare time, you should write a book on junk journaling. 😄
