I love how Dan Ackroyd can speak really fast for a long time. Dragnet was a rental staple in my VHS days. So was Alien Nation. I loved that water was like sulphuric acid to the aliens. And of course Johnny Dangerously. Funny “Fargin” film. I’ve seen it more than once, Once ☝️. Runaway train was the best cannon film released. The train looked so scary when you see it come towards you. With Running scared, you forgot the legendary Jimmy Smitts. All four of these were rental staples when l was a kid. Still waiting on you to do Saigon with William Defoe and Gregory Hines.

Starman for me gets better and better the more I watch it.. Watching it as a kid you don't really get it but as an adult its one hell of an underrated film one of John Carpenters best. Jeff Bridges was awesome in that. Alien Nation another film that seems to fly under the radar but I really enjoy it. James Caan made a great detective. Nighthawks probably deserved a sequel always overlooked for Rambo and Rocky films. It had that Dirty Harry vibe to it maybe that's what Stallone was looking for at the time. I had a coworker who quoted Running Scared every single day at work.

Just One of the Guys, Best of the Best, and Johnny Dangerously are all staples of my childhood that I re-watch frequently. I love 80s Tom Hanks comedies, but even though Dragnet is a solid little 80s comedy I feel they dropped the ball on that one as it could have been so much better (story, jokes ,etc.) especially with legends like Hanks and Aykroyd (they both nail their characters though). I agree with you on Chris Penn casting in Best of the Best, never thought that matched up and was very hard to believe him as a martial artist, I didn't mind Eric Roberts though strangely and it's probably the only role I have ever actually enjoyed him in (and maybe The Specialist). I do agree some of his sappy scenes are comically acted though.

Also Strange Invaders (1983 Nancy Allen) Sci fi movie about aliens in a small town. This was a big homage to 1950s sci fi movies. Where a professor seems to get caught up in a conspiracy and whose daughter seems to be a part of it. Fun effects in the final act.

I never correlated the two movies but I dig it! I need to get an Animal House/Up the Creek double feature in one of these weekends.

Haha it's definitely better than his Golden Girl team up movie. It's actually cool to see bc Stallone wasn't so big in the business, he wasn't so locked into the action hero mold yet either so it's really him just trying to be a good character actor and its strong overall. Thanks for watching!

Has anyone ever seen the movie "Mr. Frost" starring Jeff Goldblum? Imho it's his best role.

@@MoviesNeverSayDie lol just one of those movies that you probably had to watch when it came out to fully appreciate it

I actually did see this movie when it was relatively new. My buddies dad had it on VHS and my bud and all his brothers dug it. For me Roberts was just too silly in the role. Didn't really like Penn's casting either. They both felt out of place even as a kid. So I gravitated more to films like Bloodsport, Above the Law, American Ninja etc. I always liked the action in B of the B but the story between it all never grabbed me.
