Well Derek, this is my thought. Being this truck looks like a smaller version of you're big square body you just finished. You and Bentley should do the engine & tranny swap. Then you could put Little Grip Garage on the doors. I think that would be so cool to have those two truck in your shop. Also in the future you & your son can go on power tours together with them.

Hey there Derek just want to let you know that you made the last months of my Dad's life v much easier to go through. He was sent home on hospice in August of last year and while he was in the hospital he discovered your show. And he just love you and how you could just make anything work. He's always tell me "that oh boy they're can take a carriage and turn it into a Cadillac." I made him up a playlist of all your shows and he would always just constantly be watching your show while he was awake. the last few weeks of his life he didn't really stay awake very much but, when he was he was watching your show. The night before he passed away he came a life like it was nothing wrong with him, and he and I sat and watched the episode about Betty White. Shortly after it was over he went back to sleep and never woke up again but you were the last thing in the world that he gave a damn about on television and that means a lot to me and you will always hold a special place in my heart. God bless you brother and have a wonderful day thank you so very much for all that you did to help my Dad's life little bit better towards the end.

Even though they're gutless, I like the simplicity and space the inline 6 has under the hood. It would be cool to see if a head gasket revives the old truck.

Couldn't agree more. Those 250's weren't called sewing machines for nothin. Simple, reliable, easy to repair and they still have good aftermarket support. You can put an updated 4 barrel manifold on it and run 650CFM on it. It'll breath a little easier and be pretty torquey for what it is. Now if he really want to go fancy, he could get a sniper efi and that thing would start no matter what the temperature, weather, etc... And the a simple header on with a glass pack. Perfection. I think the KISS method is best here though. I'd pull the head, see if it and the block are ok and go from there. BUT, I'd definitely upgrade it to a 4 barrel no matter what. What a nice truck.

Derek, I would definitely swap the engine on that pickup and get it back on the road. Having a couple of square bodies myself, i totally understand being torn on parting out good rigs or not. Really lovin' all of the content you put out. Keep up the great work feller!

This one deserves an engine swap and getting it back to being roadworthy, too nice to tear apart.

Watching this channel makes me want to work on my own chevys. Quite entertaining yet informative. Learned a lot about older vehicles watching these too.

This is my favorite youtube channel. Derek's sense of humor keeps me smiling. I hope you swap the power and make another runner. Keep up the good work.

"I'll be dipped" that's one clean rig definitely a good engine swap candidate I think. Glad to see another will it run video. Looking forward to the next one.

It is insane to see how fast this channel took off. You'll be at 2 million by the end of the year. I bet you pass up cleetus in under 2 years.

You are awesome! I watch you regularly, but our Cable service has been out for 2 days for half of the Texas Gulf Coast, so I've been catching up with you and your projects. I laughed to tears at this episode! You are Blessed with a wonderful family! A "Guy ought to keep up the Good Work...... I DONT Know!" Bob Rockport, TX.

Man, the family effort in making these videos, the unquestioning support, and involvement is super cool to watch. Thank you to the VGG family! Build that truck, keep it together, she's a looker!

I believe for how well she aged, she deserves to live on. What a pretty rig! Got a real soft spot for the square body. Just sad I let about seven go over the years, along with e few blazers also. Love watching keep it up!!
@johnhpalmer60982 жыл бұрын
In general, square bodies tend to age better than many others, regardless of their color or condition, especially if clean and straight but faded. Ford has had some versions of the F150 that have not aged so well, even if in prime condition stylistically wise and in general, a basic Deluxe square body will be a better looker at 40+ old now in comparison.

Derek, absolutely love your will it run and drive home videos. I know you are busy, but these videos are so refreshing, and I laugh until my sides hurt at your jokes and antics. I think this truck is deserving of your 350, it will make a great going to town rig. Love it when your family is involved, and Jessica is a real sweetheart to drive 3 1/2 hours to come and bail you out of a mess. She is surely a keeper. As always, another great video.

Excellent episode. I was actually glad you called in the cavalry and had it towed. Sometimes those barely making it home episodes are hard to watch. My vote is save it!

Save em all Derek! This one would look awesome jet black, lowered tastefully, and some old school rally wheels! The more you save now the more will always be on the road later. They are getting fewer and farther between! Thanks for everything. Honestly thank you.

I really admire how you try so hard to “Bring it around” in the face of so much adversity. I totally relate to becoming attached to a vehicle the more you work on it. I also like how you make the video whether it drives or trailers home. Thanks so much for the content !!👍

I hope you kept this truck in tact! I just discovered this channel today and this is the first video I've seen. I guess I need to subscribe and start catching up!

Derek, I absolutely agree with the feller who said make it a project with Bentley and put little grip garage decals on the side and have both shop trucks. That's an amazing idea.
@bassiclymike2 жыл бұрын
That cleaned up amazing! I'd say swap a motor and trans in it for now, and when time permits, tear down that 4.1 and see what's making it blow coolant out the exhaust. If it's a gasket, I'd say get the engine running, put it back in and kep the truck original. If the head or block are damaged, go with a swap and make it a going to town rig.
@kamiraanddie123942 жыл бұрын
My two cents are, besides the engine, the body looks amazing and a 350 in it will be a sweet build. I know you bought it to part out for your blue beauty, but this truck is an amazing find imo. Whatever you do, you got a viewer in me. Much love from AZ!

The viewing numbers are insane , this is sooo good . Great family support there and that truck has great bones… fixer upper for sure “ better than factory”, thank you ( again, again 😊).

I bought one of those brand new. It was a 305 4bbl auto 4wd, white w/blue interior. It drove wonderful and I loved it. I bought it to build my house and it carried a lot of supplies. I think the 350 engine would be great. I would love to see you restore it to the road. It would make a great going to town truck or one of your boys would enjoy it.

I'm in favor of replacing the head gasket... six in a row and ready to tow is more interesting than the V8 literally everyone else has.

I was thinking the same but by how rusty that spark plug is that cylinder probably needs some work

I'd rebuild the inline 6, and add a non integrated head.. they make performance parts for it too.. everyone is doing LS, and old school small block swaps, the 6 is a sweet little motor, and is different. The makings of a good daily driver, and gets good gas mileage too 😉
@professornuke75622 жыл бұрын
I agree. The price of the old petroleum these days. You could scoot that around without having to sell your kid's kidneys to keep it fed.
@danhiggins77982 жыл бұрын
I agree. Pop the top off the inline to see if any cracks then make the decision weather to swap a V8. It's two wheel drive, should make decent fuel mileage either way.
@professornuke75622 жыл бұрын
@@danhiggins7798 that's good advice, especially when our guy already has the 8 to swap in. The 6 may not be worth the salvage.

I have an 81 C10 that had the 250 in it. It was gutless. Rated at 100hp new. Mine was a manual- I can't imagine how much worse it would be with an auto. It was very reliable. 400k miles before it died, then swapped a 350/th350 and never looked back. I don't think a guy who likes big blocks and blowers would be happy with that ol straight 6

The front end with the single headlights instead of the double stack looks so cool. When you had her on the trailer towing her home, she was begging for you to bring her back to life with a new engine. The body is in great shape and the windshield is intact. All that said … my vote is keep the beautiful girl. She has so much more to give.

Way too nice to part out. Definitely could be a great goin' to town rig. If it was mine it'd get a small block, lowered a couple of inches, and shine juice on the paint. Derek you had me laughing out loud the whole first half of this revival. Great video, love the revivals!
