2:40 in their original games, Throh and Sawk are found only near the Pinwheel Forest, which is also the natural habitat of the Sewaddle line, and even back in BW it was said in the Dex that Leavanny used leaves and its silk to weave clothes for small pokemon. I have thus decided that this is a flavorful little nod to the fact that Leavanny knits clothes for all Sawk and Thros in exchange for protection in a small example of a symbiotic relationship and will thus willfully ignore the fact that it's probably just a coincidence. I'm also kind of mad that you didn't mention Heatmor. I guess it did get Fire Lash in gen 7 as a signature move, but I would be difficult to convince that's a significant buff in any way. @@ggw1776 Source? The Sinjoh ruins event. I know Arceus’s lore isn’t exactly straightforward, but that was (one of) my takeaways from that event. Even if it wasn’t exactly directly said, it was so heavily implied as to be borderline. It was today that I learned this was still considered a “fan theory” and not accepted canon. Unown are said to create a “strange power” where they gather. Arceus is repeatedly said to be the reason for the Unown in the Ruins of Alph. So when the cutscene has the Unown swarming right before Arceus does the Creation, that’s about as close to an answer as you get.

One of my favorite Romhack Fakemons is Acufront from Pokemon Clover. It's castform with good stats and it's ability changes it with the weather and weather synergizes moves set that weather. So if you use thunder, it will use rain dance followed by thunder in one turn. Solar beam will use sunny day first and then solar beam without needing to charge.

Sawk and Throh are already basically attempts to recapture the feeling of Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee for a new game with no returning pokemon. So, give them a Tyrogue equivalent that can evolve into either of them into a third thing, and have the third thing be the only one to have any kind of serious competitive utility. that's how you handle them imo

Yeah, as much as I love gen 5, that can be said about most of the pokemon. They're remakes of gen 1 pokemon. Conkeldurr? Machamp. Audino? Chansey. Woobat? Golbat. Garbador? Muk. The game has plenty of its own unique, and it's my second favorite gen after gen 4, but gamefreak really was running out of ideas trying to fillout that dex in B/W 1 and just started copying their own homework.

​@@bartek4321its not a soft reboot, the old Pokémon are right there, you can literally catch a Marill before the first gym, there are Zubats and Geodudes swarming caves, Voltorbs act as mimics, fishing with the old rod will usually get you a Magikarp, they didn't just wholesale replace old Pokémon like with gen 5, which is what makes it a soft reboot.

Castform not having a sandstorm version, already felt like a huge oversight in gen3. Honestly it deserves an evolution with 80-100 BST everywhere that includes all the terrain and enhances the visuals to not look like a manscaped dummy.

It can simultaneously interact with Weather and Terrain in the Evo, that'd be cool. So for example, in just Misty terrain it's a fairy, in just Sandstorm it's a Rock, but in Rain + PsyTerrain it's Water/Psychic.

An evolution for Relicanth could reference an ancient bony fish called Dunkleosteus, a massive, strong jawed predator. It could evolve in a similar way to Yanma or Piloswine, as their evolution also reference extinct prehistoric animals. This would give it reasonable access to abilities like Strong Jaw, and a more offensive stat spread. It could end up being whatever Pokemon the -vish part of the Galar fossils was, as it was also a reference to the Dunkle. Very cool.

I love Bouffalant and I think it should evolve. Jim even mentioned it in the video, Buffalo were almost hunted to extinction in America so it should get the Cursola treatment. A normal/ghost type as a slow bulky mon could be interesting since we only have Zoroark-Hisui as a fast offensive one.

That's why I cherish Radical Red, it made so many of those forgettable mons playable without going overboard. I used to hate sawk and throh but both of them got an interesting rework there. Now I have fond memories of using Throh with slightly better deffensive stats and Technician which allows it to utilise many interesting and uncommon moves giving it memorability.

10:56 there is an fan-theory I like that suggest that Unknown is basically the building blocks of the universe. Specifically that Unknown are the 'thousand arms' of Arceus. It's mostly based on the Shinjo Ruins cut scene featuring unknown as Arceus creates one of the Shino legendary trio. Apparently in the gen 4 movies, when Diagla Palkia and Giritina clash in their own dimensions they crrate tears in reality the expell out Unknown. If also explains their ability to manipulate reality when they hoarde.

I think an interesting change to castform could be to change the ability so that based on the held item it summons the corresponding weather (heat rock for sun, damp rock for rain etc.) and also changing into the appropriate form. That way it could act as a versatile weather setter in lower tiers while not losing its identity. It would still be balanced out by it’s mediocre stats and requirement to hold a weather related item.

I'll never understand the people who say unown has a deep lore, it really doesn't because Gamefreak does very little world building. Outside of the movie where they have some connection to Entei, they're literally just cave writings. They're never explained or explored, most you get is "woah, we just discovered this pokemon that look like letters, lets research it!" and that's literally it.

While I can appreciate how much the fans carry Pokemon in many aspects, it sucks that Gamefreak doesn't actually do anything with the cool ideas they present. Unown are one example, they kind of hint that there's more to them, but never elaborate. Or the fact they introduce multiple universes in gens 6 and ESPECIALLY 7, then never explore that concept besides a few ultra beasts and saying there's a verse where Team Rocket won. I wish gamefreak gave more than just crumbs and actually gave me something to sink my teeth into.

Diancie is an extremely rare mutation of Carbink, and Unown are beings created by Arceus to serve as essentially its "arms". This is why Arceus' event in HGSS is accessed via rhe Ruins of Alph, the only location where you can catch Unown

Ground type Castform in Sandstorm, Ghost type Castform in Fog, Fairy/Electric/Grass/Psychic type in the respected Terrains. Castform has so many potential options.

I think Durant and Heatmor could use a regional form or ecological equivalent. That feels like the right way to innovate on their designs without making something too powerful. It'd be interesting to see the balance of power shift in another region, with Heatmor being the prey of a Durant with type advantage against it.

sawk and thro should get a fusion/evolution, where the evolved form has both of them as ability they could get some form of parental bond clone (or say hits twice but at 60% power)

Honestly, Castform could do fine with some big stat bonuses under weather. Like, give every transformed state +30 SpAtk so that Weather Ball hits decently hard, and then +50 in one thematically appropriate stat on top of that. For example, Def for a newly created Sandstorm form, +SpDef for Rain, +Spd for Hail (it looks "windy", so it being speedy would fit), +Atk for Sun (shout-out to Flareon). It still wouldn't be a great competitive 'mon, considering that it would just conditionally increase its base stat total from 420 to 500, but it would at least make it a neat in-game option, especially if the game had some areas with permanent weather.

They should just give castform all weather abilities when it evolves. True fear is when chlorophyll, solar power, protsynthesis, solar beans come from a lil guy.
