Hi Bob, brillant Story, i can remembered. First day, i must win, had lost so many perches. because of the false Hook type, Serie 1T, was too fine for the hard mouth of these predatators. Day 2 i won my section. 3 Bites = 3 perches with stronger Hook Kamasan B532 in 24. A lot of spectators on the venue. Bob deservedly won! MS

Could listen to bob all day!!, Forgotten venues, amazing how a world championship venue can mirror the same decline we see in our own towns and cities, local ponds and canals once lined with kids and anglers now empty. The only difference is fishing is allowed on these waters and the fish are still there, its the anglers that have left.

I met Bob at Holme Pierrepont the day before the match. A true gent. I'd been fishing the nearby Grantham canal and decided to pop in for a look with my brother who lived in Nottingham at the time. He now lives in Barrow upon Soar. Such a pity he doesn't fish.

I watched the European super cup there in 1991 and 1992 the venue was solid with fish, it’s amazing how much it had changed in 3 years. One of the Belgian teams Managers told me their bait bill for the Two Days in 1991 was over £1200, for 4 anglers!.

I'm pretty sure the Gladding Masters was fished there in 1975 or 76. both blazing hot Summers. Ian Heaps was there, probably Ivan Marks and Kevin Ashurst as well. I was there with my schoolmate Toby Catchpole, he is an Archaeologist now

Hello Baz, yes the gladding masters was in 1976, lovely hot day, I sat behind Billy lane and Ian heaps, they blanked that day unfortunately, the likiey lads were there Ivan and Roy Marlow, and one of my favourite pole anglers Ray Mumford, remember Terry Thomas from the TV series being there at presentation, someone shouted where's the trout and salmon thomas, everyone laughed, wot a great day out though, will never forget it.

I'm astonished that bob isn't sure that its the Cormorants that are emptying the place, i had a walk round yesterday, dozens of them buzzing around, also egrets , herons, grebes - the fish haven't got a chance

I used to live near there and take my dog around the entire site for years. It's gone downhill in recent years. Cameras everywhere, stupid parking (it used to be free), rubbish dumped, constantly flooded, crap fishing, constant algae in the water. So glad I moved away.

Fishing is banned on here??! Wtf? Seriously who let that happen what a joke. Great water and the perfect venue for a world championship.

Bob looks a bit 'chelsea pensioner' esque wi them medals on..... great insight.... maybee they shud have sent a few speedboats up and down for a while and stopped them 5 mins before start of match... the fish in these venues are used to boats it doesnt phase them..... oh well... hindsight maybee... the worlds are ALWAYS deeplt disappointing catch wise.. they peg em too tight
