That V4 Saab sounds awesome 👌
@Mike-rk8px
@Mike-rk8px 2 жыл бұрын
It was a V-4 engine from the Ford Taurus, a compact and extremely durable engine. It sounded great, and the exhaust had that Italian sound that can best be described as a “silky bite”. Saab made over 8,300 Sonnet 3’s between 1970-74. I’ve owned 3 of them, and now own a 1973 model. They look much better in person than in pictures. They weren’t fast, but they were quick and very addictive to drive. It looked like an Italian exotic, but it was really a Saab throughout: extremely well made, extremely reliable, and it used parts that Saab already plenty of in their other models. The engine bay was quite large and lots of owners put larger engines in them. The suspension set-up from the factory was more than sturdy enough to handle extra horsepower and torque. Unlike other small 2-door sports cars it had a huge amount of cargo space, and the hatchback made getting things in and out easy. If you drive one you’ll find it hard to understand why the Sonnet 3 wasn’t a huge sales success. There are a lot of them still around, and a lot of places that do quality work on them. If you want one the prices are very reasonable for what you get: a really good one will be around $7 to $10,000. An excellent one will be around $20,000. One big advantage if you live in a cold climate is it’s front wheel drive and they’re excellent in snow.

Some great looking cars and great sounding engines. I'm surprised you didn't include one of the TVR Edge cars. My nephew bought one a few years ago and left 2 black stripes of rubber and a cloud of blue smoke all the way along the road outside the church after his wedding! Search for 1990 TVR 400SE in USA here at youtube for a great example video of a TVR Wedge.
