I wonder if this gun was designed to take the cartridge for the Webley Automatic pistol. It's a bit early for the pistol itself, but on Wikipedias notes about the cartridges it says "The early version of the cartridge (c.1904) had a shorter 21.7mm semi-rimmed case with a narrow rim and a pointed bullet." If the chamber is 21mm, then maybe this was the cartridge Silverman was intending to use. Whilst extremely unlikely, it's possible that he heard about Webleys new cartridge and decided to make a protoype that could use it. Probably completely wrong, but seems odd to design a gun to use a Webley cartridge that won't fit.

I don't mind becouse my side job routinely involves bag O' gun with parts missing. This would have less parts than a Ruger, I'm tempted to try sketching up this as fun in the sop and use a Ruger #2 mag...

The open bolt design sadly means it would probably need a few extra parts for a proper disconnector.

Futuristic sleek-looking blowback pipe handgun lobbing enormous archaic British .455 service pistol rounds. What's not to love?

the insides totally look like a WWII SMG, but the disconnector mechanism is very cool! way ahead of its time, methinks.

The action makes me think that the Stevens .22 rifle designer started with this.

You know, when I first watched your earlier M-S video and mentioned this one, I really didn't grasp just how freakishly huge it is.

very clever design. I'm going have to look up your video on the smaller pistol.

Looks similar to the early ruger 22 pistols, though predating them by almost 100 years, makes me wonder if either Sturm or Ruger ever saw one?

After firing, how does the firing-pin/striker-assembly return to behind the seer?
@gohunt001-53 жыл бұрын
I'd imagine recoil spring.
@jsytac3 жыл бұрын
@@gohunt001-5 The recoil spring is also the firing pin spring and continually pushes the firing pin onto the beach block. The seer is the tab that stops it moving forward onto the round. Something must move the striker assembly back behind the seer. I can’t see what.
@gresvig25073 жыл бұрын
The firing pin assembly with the big cocking knob and heavy construction through the bolt might just keep going with inertia for a bit after the bolt stops, resetting the catch. That's all I can think would do it. Especially with a .455 in straight blowback things are gonna have a lot of speed and energy to work with.
@jsytac3 жыл бұрын
@@gresvig2507 Good thought, yes, inertia of the striker assembly would probably carry it that small distance after the beach block stops against the screw cap.
@dpavlov3 жыл бұрын
@@gresvig2507 You are correct, firing pin continues to move back by inertia after bolt stops and gets caught behind the sear.

All jokes aside about the size and shape of the pistol... Its simplicity is brilliant and so close to be a real deal.

I'm curious how the disconnector over rides the striker while cycling rear wards to "reset" the fire control group to prevent a runaway because I can't visualize how that would happen.

Ian explains its operation better in his previous Silverman video, maybe he shows the disconnected part operation better.

Great video! Ever since the first video about this kind of pistol, I have been daydreaming about building one in, say, .45 ACP, or .45 Win Mag, or .50 AE. Now I see why that might not be the best approach to cartridge choice.
