Ever think of annealing before bending? Makes the metal more workable

Morning Jani. I live in Spain and would like to make fork and spoon braclets but I can’t find the mould you have to bend the forks on your arbor press . Any idea on a website that sells them .... thanks Troy Great videos and finished work....

Hi Troy! I put a link to the tools I use below the description. If you don’t see it, click “Show More”. The Bender Press was invented by and sold by Susan Angle at Flatwareable. Here is the link: www.flatwearable.net/home/flatwearable-bender-3d/

So no heat? Also The fork itself should be made out of Silver? Nice video thanks.
@JustJani

Hi Ken! Thank you! No need to anneal these, they are already soft. I’m using a silver plated fork. That gives it the look of silver jewelry without the high cost of sterling silver. Many people use stainless steel, too.

What kind of tumbler do you use
@JustJani
@JustJani 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I have an Extreme tumbler, Rebel 17 that uses stainless steel tumbling media (pins). It is a heavy duty tumbler, so you don’t tumble your flatware as long, about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. www.extremetumblers.com/products.html

Hi! I think you’re talking about the Bender Press. That is an attachment sold by Flatwearable (arbor press is separate). I got my arbor press at Harbor Freight. Let me know if that answers your question. Here are the links: www.flatwearable.net/flatwearable-bender-3d/ www.harborfreight.com/1-ton-arbor-press-59766.html

Is it easier to anneal the fork before working it?
@JustJani
@JustJani 11 ай бұрын
Yes, annealing is what makes the metal easier to work with so you need to do it first.

Is there any coming back from a broken folk prong? (can't remember the correct name) 🤔
@JustJani
@JustJani 8 ай бұрын
Hi. Sorry that happened to you. You may be able to solder it if it’s already the shape you want it. You can’t solder and then bend, it’ll just break off.😞 Wish I could have been more helpful. (It’s called a tine🤗)

When initially bending the tines I am having an issue with bending them without turning the tine. Are you using the baleing pliers on the flat side of the fork or on the edge? I can't get the smooth bend without the tine of the fork going into different directions. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
@JustJani
@JustJani 4 ай бұрын
Hi! Sometimes the tines just do that to you, especially the flat ones. You'll need to flatten as you go. Here are 3 things to try. You can bend a little, stop and tap it out with a hammer, bend more, tap it out, and so on. Another thing you can do is make your own tool to turn the tines as you go. You can take something, like an old screwdriver, cut the end off, and cut a "slot" into the end that will just fit over a fork tine. Use it to bend as you go. You can also look at Joakim Forsberg's fork bending tool. I can't recommend it bc I have never been able to get much out of it, but maybe watching his videos will help you. Good Luck! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqiynYOdmrl0Zrssi=UmjEVWSOg0sL2zp2

Hi! I’m using silver plated silverware. You can use stainless steel, it’s just a bit tougher to bend.

i would be tempted to lay a peace of leather in that machine so it would grip the fork as your bending it preventing it from slipping just an idea 😊😊

Hi, I find that if the hole is drilled before bending, it will spread open and be too big and stretched out.😃
