@JustJani5 күн бұрын
Hi! Ideally you’d want to be in a ventilated area. Acetylene is lighter than air and will just hang around and eat oxygen (not leaving as much air for you). And you wouldn’t know bc it’s odorless. Since you don’t need it on very long at a time for these projects you could work by a window or fan.

How do you remove the handkes from stainless steel knives?
@JustJani15 күн бұрын
You can cut them off with a band saw or hand saw. They’re not hollow so you can’t do it the same as the silver plated.

@JustJaniАй бұрын
Hi! All of my silverware is silver plated.
@dirtyjohnathan5612Ай бұрын
I know this is two years old but for anyone who may have found this video. DONT DO THIS. you’re removing the silver plate left. Exposing the bare metal underneath. What you’re seeing is the bare metal. Remember plating is just applying a thin coat of a material ontop of another. A file will obviously remove the silver plate. DONT DO THIS

Why don’t you drill the heart before you bend it?
@JustJani2 ай бұрын
If you drill the hole first and then bend it, the hole will spread open and your hanger or rivet won't fit correctly. Hope this helps!

Hi, what is that Torch Tool called you use? And where do you get one?
@JustJani2 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry I missed your comment. Here are links to my torch pieces. I never change my tips. I like the smaller one for what I do. Torch handle: a.co/d/6jtMUfG Torch tip: a.co/d/bPZmyAQ Torch tip: a.co/d/17fkFPt I didn't buy a hose. My husband did HVAC and had an oxy-acetylene hose that he separated so I just had the acetylene hose. My gas is a small cylinder of acetylene I get filled at a local store. I don't need oxygen because the torch pulls oxygen in from around it. Here is a video by Goss that explains how it works. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2Slk6Z9bNimaMUsi=fTPLdG-HpLNvwdtV I don't have this one below. I bought my pieces separately, but if you don't have anything the kit is a good place to start. www.gossonline.com/air-acetylene-equipment/kits/feather-flame-kits-screw-in-style

That's really well annealed 👍
@phillight20086 ай бұрын
It doesn't "look silver;" it just looks shiny. If you polish copper or brass to a mirror finish, it's hard to see the metal's color because it's so reflective. But you've removed any remnant of silver plate with that file. This is a destructive cosmetic technique and damages the piece. Replating is the only way to restore it.
@JustJani6 ай бұрын
You should make a video on that.
@phillight20086 ай бұрын
@@JustJani, I only create videos about topics I'm knowledgeable about. I don't know how to replate silver. I was searching for that knowledge when I came across this video.
