Surely the problem is that the calliper is a few mm too far out board on the rotor? The pads are simply contacting the rotor too near the outer edge. The "burn" on the rotor is caused by heat (not a problem) but illustrates that the pads are hitting the rotor too far to it's outer edge. That burn would normally be worn away by the pad. That said, fork judder can also be caused by a loose headset/ worn fork bushes etc.

Jeez for that to happen to a floating rotor that's really rare. You would had to have gotten that thing super hot! What type of riding do you normally do? Or maybe you're just very hard on the front brake? Well good job diagnosing it anyway 👍 In the future after you clean the caliper and pistons with some brake cleaner, just work the lever really easy to get the Pistons to come out just a little bit, then a little drop of brake fluid around the Piston area that's exposed. Then push the Pistons back in work them out a little bit again push them back into final time and install your pads. This helps keep the Piston seals lubricated and working efficiently 👍 BTW such intelligent comments below...🙄🙄🙄

if rotor is bent then just bend it back for best result put it wheel in truing stand, use rotor truing add on to true the rotor, with a adjustable wrench. swapping rotor just cus it's slightly out of true is bad idea. if pads and rotors are glazed then sand them down with 100 grit sand paper. it can be caused by leaking piston seals, riding through oil spills in the rain, or through puddle with ail spill. this overheats the brakes. but if you have this and there is no contamination and then you need bigger rotors.

if that is the case you need to replace the rotor...if you have just a single ring that tightens the rotor in place(instead of 6 bolts)you can get a tool or go to a bs to tighten it back up

Dudes are looking for an inexpensive solution to solve a problem of a really expensive bike. Why would you think that is possible?
@francisleesc7 жыл бұрын
Fork vibrates when braking is due to wrong sequence in tightening the fork tube resulting in free play between the fork and head tube. Just loosen the screws on the stem that grip the fork's tube then tighten the headset cap's screw first before tightening the stem screws that the fork tube. This will solve the problem.
@rickspalding30477 жыл бұрын
In English please
@Sphoxros6 жыл бұрын
He's talking about loosening the Stem bolts, then tightening the top cap bolt Before the stem bolts, doing it this way you pull the fork up and tight, getting rid of any area's that are loose/gaps etc. :D

@bikebook10 жыл бұрын
You can try to replace brake pads first. I did that, but the vibration returned after a while.
@Unrealy110 жыл бұрын
is polishing the rotors helping anyway,or a bit sand paper(of the smallest ones) on it?
@bermroller10 жыл бұрын
Unrealy1 Yea, sand the rotors and the pads. Hold the sandpaper down on a flat surface and rub the pads in a circular motion on it. This is how every bike shop does it. Bikebook apparently doesn't know shit about bikes, or is trying to support the mail order, replace-instead-of-repair culture that is driving bike shops out of business.

@stefanbrown81767 жыл бұрын
if the fork is vibrating while braking pretty sure that's the Stantions bushings
@RicJG78 жыл бұрын
Best way is to put washing up liquid on the pads when they're dry, rub them together until the washing up liquid turns black then rinse well. Repeat 3 or 4 times or as many times as you like. You will literally see the black gunge coming of the pads. Don't forget to clean the rotor as well or the same thing will happen. Use isopropyl alcohol for that. Also if you have a line going around the rotor it means the caliper is too far away from the rotor. Just remove the spacers to bring it back.
@AndrewOliverHome3 жыл бұрын
Heating the pads up with a blow torch will boil off any oil contamination. I’ve used that on Shimano and Hope systems. For SRAM, the best move is to replace them with either Shimano or Hope...

@russellwalker38308 жыл бұрын
+Kritzmer Pedro Hey! Nothing wrong with lubricating a mechanism that operates on the very principle of friction.
@salmaansheriff8 жыл бұрын
russel ur ironically right, disk grabbing is caused by uneven wear on the rotor caused by overheated brake pads or pads not properly bedded in, so a little bit of wd40 will lube it and allow it to break in once again by allowing a smoother grip allbeit lower grip for a short period of time, as the rotors get hot the wd40 evaporates and ur done :) any more questions plz :) always welcome :)

There reliability and benefits out weigh the few issues they can have, and nearly All issues are user related, biggest issue is like in this video, the owner didn't burn in the rotors correctly when they got/built the bike.
