To add one the restaurant wouldn't have charged extra either, its a set price for a multi-course meal. So it was something special they did to blow the table's minds. Thats why they're 3 stars, above and beyond hospitality.

yeah and he said “pequod’s deep dish” when he dropped the plate. that was the name of the pizza joint. they were aware the restaurant didn’t make it and just replated it for them to try. they were obviously there to dine and pay for the restaurant’s original food anyways.

Also, all their restaurants had the same sign "Every second counts". At first, it sounds like a slogan to make the most efficient use of time possible, especially because we see it when they're on a time crunch to open in just 3 months. But this story flips the meaning. Now it's about enjoying and seeing the beauty of every moment.

We've all been waiting for this one. Perhaps the most thrilling, uplifting character development one episode has been able to pull off. What I absolutely adore is the contrast between the very first time Richie is introduced to the slogan on the wall ("Every Second Counts" to him at that point means to simply keep doing your responsibilities, no matter how dull), but by the end of the episode, he fully embraces its real meaning ("Every Second Counts," because it's never too late to start again, and he really could help build something beautiful once The Bear opens in the time they have left).
@pabloc880810 ай бұрын
We also see "Every Second Counts" on Chef Luca's wall in Copenhagen, and in this episode we see the picture of Luca and Carmy on Chef Terry's wall, meaning when Luca left Terry and opened his own place he took that with him. Also fun fact, that sign is inspired by The French Laundry (Chef Thomas Keller). In every kitchen managed by Keller there is a sign that says "Sense of Urgency" under the clock.
@RenegadeReplicant10 ай бұрын
Love the reveal with the photo of Carmy and Luca (Copenhagen). It confirms that the chef he was telling Marcus about, the one that was way better than him and pushed him to be better, was Carmy. Carmy even says it in his monologue at the season 1 finale. He mentions whenever someone would come in new he'd make sure to smoke them.

"Why is there a skeleton up there?" There's something in art history called a memento mori, literally "remember you must die." Painters would throw a skull or something into a still life to remind people that death is looming for everyone, and that their life is precious in the shadow of that. I think it fits in well with the whole "Every Second Counts" theme of putting in the effort with the time you're given.
