I have to say that I have MAJOR respect for David. Obviously he's a mustang guy but he has respect for all cars and people. He doesn't hate on the japanese rally cars or the euro tuners or even Hondas and other cars, In a fantasy world, the car enthusiasts would all be as respectful as David. It seems like the Miata is starting to get the praise and respect it deserves. currently looking for an NB and it seems like so far Miata people are really cool, no trolling or petty arguments in the comments just respect and admiration, that's rare anymore!

Tommy West I love my Miata. I bought simply because it seemed like a really fun car on videos, and it looked cool to me. However, when driving it, you get compliments, and sometimes you hear distant random honking and when you look out the window, it's another Miata greeting you. Also, whenever I park somewhere, sometimes I see a Miata parked next to me. This car always puts a smile on my face.

haha many reasons, the car is fun, non-car ppl think it's a race car, but it is slow as hell so others try to race you but I just laugh it off. Some other ppl modify the hell out of it so they become sleepers. Their handling is amazing.

2:47 It's not just a little bit displacement, it's also almost 10 years of technology advancement. Variable Ignition and Cam timing, a reworked intake system with a MAF instead of an AFM, different intake header length for low and high rpms and headers that are closer to the same length with less restriction. It's pretty well reworked and pushing out around 140hp on the crank while getting same or better mpg. CAI and aftermarket exhaust might help out too for a couple of horses but who knows.

My first car was a stock miata mx5 with a welded diff and i have to say they are really good for a starter drift car man and now 3 years on i have owned a couple of 240's a s13 and a s14 and my faviroute car so far was probably the mx5 for drifting bud

DriftTrain no they are horrible for drifting. I used to own an 1999 NB with LSD that was my autocross weekend warrior. Short wheel base and lack of torque makes this car horrible for drifting. Perfect car for autocross and track days though. Obviously if you put enough suspension work into it and power, you can make any car drift

That's why then i wouldn't recommend a LSD i would only recommend a locked diff or welded diff either one and remember i had a 1.6 mk 1

DriftTrain then you should should know that a 1.6l would be even harder to break the rear end loose. Unless they are 100% set on drifting a miata and be willing to put in a lot of suspension work and tuning, they be better off buying a 240sx or something with a larger wheel base where they can start right practicing without much modifications

From the firewall back to the rear fenders, NA and NB are pretty much identical. The flip-up headlights had to go due to new pedestrian safety laws, but other than that the structure didn't change much. It's why you can interchange Hardtops, Softtops, interior-parts (almost everything of the interior of the NB fits the NA) and even gearboxes.

I drive an NB miata and will never get rid of it. If anything, I'll buy more...maybe an '03-'04 Speed (turbo version) and one of the new ND's when they come out. You can't have a better car for back-roads, especially for the money. And the aftermarket for them is saturated with parts.

I had a 1992 miata with 225's, man that thing gripped around corners. I scared the shit out of one of my buddies who owns a 300whp wrx, I think we were going at least 50mph around a 90 degree turn Lol! It was lacking power though so I sold it lol. You're right about the Miata being a stepping stone to the s2000, that'll be my next car.
