Lynyrd Skynyrd performed at Ryman Auditorium in 2022, featuring a crazy list of songs, and lots of guest performers. This is the final concert to ever be recorded and filmed with Gary Rossington. This is Gary's final time ever performing Free Bird, which was confirmed by Johnny Van Zant after the fact, which is insane. I miss Gary with everything in me, and I still cannot believe he's gone. I'll forever be grateful that he and the rest of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote so many great songs, and we get to live with them forever. #lynyrdskynyrd #music #fyp

Who else got goosebumps right at the beginning, knowing that this was his final time to play these wonderful chords that will go down forever in musical history?!

Absolutely, I did. I'm watching this after just watching Stevie Nicks singing Landside in memory of Christine McVie last year. So so sad.

I’ve been hearing Free Bird for literal decades and this is still the only song that I will never cut off halfway thru. If it’s on the car radio when I get to my destination I will literally sit in the car until it ends. Thank you Lynyrd Skynyrd for making my existence on this rock a little less shitty 15 minutes at a time.

For those of us who were in high-school during the late 70's we were blessed with the best music ever written. Skynyrd,Allman brothers, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker, Hank Jr. Zz Top, Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who, Van Halen, on and on. What a ride. Thanks for the blues and everyone who performed it for us and the world. We are so blessed.

You tell them.. I just wrote a comment about it but it didn't put it on here on the replies to the comments.. it just went away.. you're so right it's totally different times that we lived in that made our music what it is.. really good.. there was a whole lot going on the past 50 to 60 years..and times were totally different now than when all the good music came about.. the times we lived in and what was going on then and how we were raised is the reason all that good music was made and came about..and I don't think music could ever be that good again because we live in so different of times..

I saw them four times before the plane crash The last time was seven shows before the plane crash in Fresno which was right after a day on the green in San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area at the Oakland coliseum brought to you by the man who did the most for rock and roll in California history Mr Bill Graham. We need a new hero like Mr Graham. Someone who has the courage to bring great acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd to California Great acts like Peter Frampton back in the day and seeing all of them at the Oakland coliseum that day was an amazing event I was in junior high. I will never forget it and at the moment I was in heaven so unlike you I realized I was seeing something that I may never see again every single time I saw Ronnie on stage I knew that I was witnessing greatness. Every time I saw Allen's energy the laid-back lead play of Ed King only to be out done by the stylistic superiority and better skills of Steve Gaines. And yes Gary was a great player too in his own right. He sure had the look back in the day. You saw Gary rossington it was sort of like seeing Phil Kennemore from y&t it just registered This man is a rockstar a real rock star.

I spent 15 minutes at least talking to everybody 5 minutes. Having a beer with Gary. You wouldn't know that he was a rockstar. We didn't talk about the the business a little bit about the music. You did have a presence about him. I'll never forget him and I thank God that I had the opportunity to meet him and the rest of the band. Everybody was very cool ✌️🦅✌️

Without knowing any of them but just from watching them I always assumed that Gary was a quiet type of guy. Just had that baby face back in the 70s and Allen also seemed like a really Somber person, really quiet and shy type of energy Ronnie was obviously the polar opposite and Leon just seems like a wild dude, like a guy that didn't take shit either, I dont know much about Steve but he seems like he's in the middle of the pack type of fun surfer type of guy, Ed seemed like a polite quiet keep your head down and work, happy to be there guy but felt underappreciated at the same time. Dont know enough about Bob seemed outgoing especially for a drummer Billy looked like everyone's dad by the age of 26 and artimus seemed like a peacemaker. Its fucking insane the amount of talent that was in this band. Like everyone was top tier. Fucking power group each one could have been the most talented member in their own bands. Fucking insane story of this band and it seemed like the band was cursed. Too many people to have so much bad luck, it was almost like the powers that be, wanted them dead or had files on them all and wanted to take them out. I know it sounds like tin foil hat shit but when it was a proven fact that the Cia or fbi had files on Jefferson airplane and other bands from that era it doesn't seem too wild at all. Way too many coincidences and strange things that happened to these guys 9ver and over for it to be organically happening.

I've always loved this song and now it's closer to my heart than ever before. I just lost my only 2 sons on 1/24/24 (Sean, 36) & 2/2/24 (Scott, 38). They both lived with serious heart conditions, the oldest was awaiting heart surgery that was never to be. I was brought to tears especially when all eyes turned to the screen and images of Ronnie singing filled it. It made me miss my boys even more. We had just buried them on 3/2/24. My oldest loved southern rock and country music, my youngest enjoyed all kinds of music. My son's you're as "Free as a bird now", I'll see you in time again some day. Love, mom.

I am happy for them. I saw Skynyrd play the January before the crash. I took pictures and wasn’t supposed to be out of my seat. While Allen was doing his guitar solo he was at the corner of the stage and came up to pose for me. I got the most awesome shots of him. It was worth getting yelled at by security. Right after the crash, daddy came to my home where I was staying and stole everything, a painting my mum gave me, cloths, and all my pictures. He burned them all. I only can see them in my memories. It’s just like I saw them yesterday. I am old now. And I will always see them as clearly as I did that January, in Hawaii.

Gary and Rickey sound like they did back in the seventies. Never missed a note.

I swear everytime I play this song, the moment Gary begins sliding, my entire body goes into goosebump mode for 2 minutes. Speaking of the devil I got goosebumps typing this right now. Fly high Gary, Ronnie, Allen, Bob, Leon, Billy, Steve, Ed, Cassie, Jojo, and Leslie. No band can replace what you started, and it’s thanks to the Van Zant family we still have this beautiful music. 🕊️🇺🇸🎸

Thank you big sister for taking me to see Skynyrd in 73, I was 13 years old, moma didn't know. I seen them just about every time they came to Atlanta after that. I'm proud to say I have their autographs on many items, and Gary gave me 4 picks himself. If have lived in Gary's shoes for one day it would have been a remarkable life. God bless you Gary, and your family. You are missed.

Very nice tribute. Every time I hear this, without fail, I'm 16 years old again in front of the stage at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. So lucky. This song is very special.

I had the pleasure and honour of seeing Skynyrd play in Toronto, Canada 2 decades ago with Ted Nugent, and Deep Purple in the same show. Fucking awesome experience. Great music never dies. It just flies high like a Free Bird. Long live Lynyrd Skynyrd......

What a class act Donnie is to show homage to his brother Ronnie and what chills it gave me to see that old video edited into the lead vocals.

It's hard to know what makes a legendary song but you just know it when you hear it. It's like a fortune cookie. Each fortune means something different to each person but it has message catered to you. Great songs follow the Bible, always the same words but with a different meaning at a different time in your life. God Bless to all those who make our lives feel better when we are down.

I am 54 years old. This was recommended to me as I set on my front porch at 5 am on Saturday morning. Watching and listening to Gary play has me in goosebumps, then Donnie puts Ronnies hat on the mic stand and I begin to shed a tear, then they put Ronnie up on the screen and I just began weeping, as I thought about his impact on my life and what the band has meant to me and my people, me and my people are very I guess you can say 'countryfied" we don't have alot of today's bs and don't care about it but when it comes to just the mention of Lynyrd Skynyrd or Ronnie it's like being in church, we raise our hands, we remember, we will never forget. As we always say. Live on freebird

I feel so blessed to be fortunate enough to have seen Skynyrd twice in my life. One of the reasons I am still so happy about being a Gen X kid. We had some kick ass music. Skynyrd will definitely go down in history as one of the very best to ever put music to my ears.
