Former Foster Child Speaks About Her CASA Volunteer

Kristie Morris was placed in foster care at the age of seven. The odds were against Kristie graduating high school much less college as they are against any child growing up "in the system."

Awesome story, very uplifting! I am very glad children in foster care now have the support system they definitely need to overcome some of life's hurdles. I was once a foster child (before CASA), I had a social worker with numerous and heavy caseloads where it's hard to always see every child every month. I am very happy that the children in foster care have that level of love, encouragment and support to break barriers that would sink most children lost in the system. I ❤ CASA!!!

I tried to be a foster parent, we passed every level except our home (likely they didn't like that we were not securely middle class and childfree). As angry as Oct 2020 made me I'm proud to be getting finger printed for a Casa position tonight. Maybe this is the role I'm truly meant for. An auntie of sorts who's there to give a secure adult they don't HAVE TO please or keep the peace with. Thank you for your story it solidifies this as the right next step for me.

Tina Gaither Casillas of CASA who acts in Hamilton and Franklin County Illinois needs investigated for her incompetent, unethical and unjust work ethic. I say this after her actions regarding a three year old in foster care was present and witnessed a violent domestic dispute ending with one foster parent hospitalized and the other in White County Jail. She is friends with the foster parents and knowing the environment the boy was in was unhealthy and unsafe she ignored it.
