"de-glorified" the presidency? If he means that Carter wasn't pompous, wasn't thin- skinned to the point where he had to attack and threaten, demean any of his adversaries, that none of that was necessary because he liked who he truly was so much that he didn't need any of the accolades from others to make him feel any better than he felt about himself. That he was so down to earth that everyone who knew him personally or just saw him thru their TV sets in their living rooms felt that they could feel free to approach him, or that he would approach them? Then yes, he took the over the top glory out of that powerful position and made the rest of us feel that he truly wanted to do what he could, not for those folks up on DC, and most certainly not for the coporations and their money minded ilk, but rather for the people of this country, whom he fully accepted he had a personal responsibility to serve. Ok, in many ways he couldnt get it done to the extent he wanted too, but in terms of a HUMAN relatable president, siance then, you will never see another one like him again.
