I cannot applaud loudly enough this young woman's courageous dedication to our nation, its democracy, and its rule of law, to speak truth to power, power in the form of one Supreme Court Justice whose self-importance has grown with numbers in the Court's majority, such that he has disdainfully responded to rightful calls for him to recuse from further participating in the Trump and insurrection cases. This is particularly true where that Justice's explanations to date do not justify his refusal to recuse, and are, at best, of suspect credibility. If Alito's comments about the flag flying incidents are false, particularly if they were made knowingly or without adequate care for their accuracy, protection of this nation requires more than mere recusal from any further participation in Trump, insurrection, or any other related cases. If Alito continues to act as he has acted recently, Chief Justice Roberts needs to do more. If Chief Justice Roberts fails, then the Senate Judiciary Committee needs to do more, far more, to notify the American people of the pertinent principles of judicial ethics and how dangerous is the failure to act on those principles.
