This problem is nationwide. Who wants to be a police officer when Democrats have created this "hate the police" attitude.? Mayors, Governors dont support their police because they are concerned about their own asses getting re-elected. No one has the nerve to stand up for the police. Instead, officers have to worry about getting killed, sued, arrested. For what? Go do something else. And current officers are retiring as soon as they can. You can't blame them.. So there's your problems. Start standing up the police and not the criminals. Judges are to blame also. They're scared to do their jobs

I do, and I will become a NOPD officer. I’m coming to help New Orleans, because the city is beautiful and so are the citizens. Every state, and every city has issues. Some get reported more than others. The city has an incredible pension plan, 2.5% every year of service, of highest 60 months salary. 34 years and they will give you 100% pension, at year 5 you’re making 77k… By year 34 if you make it to captain, it’s $140,000. You start at 21? No where on earth is paying a retirement that good.

I understand how you feel. I have a mother who is very sickly and I dont desire to put her into a nursing home so I care for her needs myself. My mom loves going outdoors but if I'm asleep and she's outside alone who knows what might happen. So our household is always at war because she wants to listen but she doesn't understand completely why I dont like her outdoors so she rebels. It's very hard to live in the area of new Orleans and not feel safe at all. There's always some serious crimes going on and I'm tired of being right here to witness some of it and to hear about the others.

I’m watching The First 48 now and again, it’s about New Orleans… the one where those thugs shot up the porch and hit 3 kids I believe, of course never hit one of the intended targets . I think it's better if the officers don't live here anyway because that way the criminals can't easily find out where they live and murder them. Cops are humans too and have families too.
