New Orleans has a serious crime problem. The crime is completely out of hand. The problem is the mayor, city council, and the police. New Orleans crime rate is shamful and disrespectful. Especially to the citizens that reside and are taxes payers. Cantrell and and Ferguson need to first accept the city is crime infested. If there isn't enough man power, on the police force call for assistance. Put the city under marshal law. Place strict curfews. Call the national guards to assist, until the city is back under control. Too hear are read about the senseless crime everyday is overwhelming. If the elected officials would stop worrying about parties, second lines, and festivities just maybe, they can focus on the number one problem CRIMES. New Orleans is a beautiful place. So much cultural and historical landmarks. Hurricane Katrina almost destroyed New Orleans. If the CRIIME is not put under control, CRIME will destroy New Orleans.

Plain and simple explanation...Mayor is useless, does not care because she is now term limited, her last hoorah. DA does not prosecute crime and has run, and been elected on that platform. Criminals know that police are extremely short staffed, so most likely will not be caught, and if so, they will not be prosecuted, per the DA's plan. The fix is to toss the mayor back to Cali, toss the DA in jail for tax evasion, toss the police chief because he does not know half of what is going on,...then bring in Batman and Robin to reign in the criminal problem.

Mayor Latoya Cantrell refuses to fire anyone who she has appointed (Peter Bowen, Shaun Ferguson, Jonathan Rhodes, etc etc) because she can't admit when she makes a mistake. She refuses to request LA State Police even just on the highways because she thinks it would be an admission of failure. She refuses to work with City Council because she believes she knows best. While NOPD loses officers every week and the problems are getting worse by the day the mayor is out parading and getting drunk/high at concerts, and gets in fights in hotel bars and bathrooms. It's pathetic that Latoya Cantrell got elected and then re elected. It's pathetic that she hasn't been recalled and run out of town on a rail. Citiens of NO, let the mayor hear your discontent and send her packing back to California!

I've lived in downtown NOLA most of my adult life at this point and I'm fine. Mostly in areas people warn you not to walk through. I'm not saying there aren't issues, but don't project your fear onto this city, or act like one supervillain politician is to blame. Most of the people committting these crimes have been failed countless times over generations long before Mayor Cantrell, and the whole world is under a lot of pressure now so it's showing a lot more clearly. If we put resources towards helping people before they grew desperate and did wrong, we wouldn't be here.
