Christopher Darden, a prosecutor in the case, joins TODAY to talk about why the public continues to be fascinated with “the trial of the century” more than 20 years later, and the portrayal of romantic tension between himself and fellow prosecutor Marcia Clark on the TV miniseries “The People v. @KittyGoldPaint
@KittyGoldPaint 3 жыл бұрын
Well apparently the actor who played him tried to reach out to him for the series, but he wanted nothing to do with it, so his daughter helped the actor Sterling K. Brown with his role, and Darden apparently was proud that Sterling K Brown won the Emmy for his "interpretation" of the character, which still suggests to me he had not yet watched it! I myself was worried about how they would handle the series, but I actually think for being a television crime mini series, it was handled with a lot of sensitivity for the people involved with the trial, though I wish they would have put a little more energy into the victims family's.

Darden and Clark had to try and explain what DNA evidence was to a jury who had almost no knowledge of the new science, in addition to the fact one of the cops on the case was a racist. The prosecution had to be 100% right to convict a previously beloved celebrity. The defense just had to raise enough doubt to get him off... and they partially played upon people's biases and feelings of systematic injustice in a country that had slavery and segregation.

Jocko Adams Also they went back and got some of the blood samples three weeks later . . . also the chain of custody for some of the evidence was suspect. Even if he did it there was too much of a screw up by the police and potential planting of evidence to convict him.

This man is just a good human being. I think that trial sucked the life out of him, and really changed him. He won the case by not selling out, he pursued the truth and was kicked in the teeth for it. The jurors were never going to convict him because of the cities history, which is a shame. Karma is real and the universe does not stand for dealing from the bottom on the deck. Like I said, he ultimately one out.

Regarding the recent FX Miniseries "The People vs. O.J. The Simpson Case was a big big BIG turning point in Darden's law career, being that it was such a big, media focused trial of the century. It could only go in two major, career changing directions for Darden. If Darden won, he'd be a partner in a big law firm living in a deluxe suite in the Hilton. But he lost and thus his law career went downhill to the point of him being shunned. He and Marcia didn't manage to correctly organize themselves and convince the jury beyond a doubt that Simpson did it (though in all fairness that jury must have been brain dead the whole time! A pet iguana could have figured out that Simpson did it with the ton of evidence against him) He lost such an easy case at that, so that adds more fuel to the fire.

If u keep rewriting the past I can’t learn from it. Two jurors were ready to vote guilty upon handed the case. So the case was not lost like Darden says long before the glove. A hung jury would have been a win as Simpson was out of money and the prosecution would have had a better crack at it. Instead of facing facts too many just blame the jury as that’s the easy non-accountable thing to do.

OJ's acquittal was an act of injustice to Nicole and Ron, the same as Roy Bryant's acquittal was an act of injustice to Emmett Till.

He's not convincing in the role. OJ is bigger and more imposing. His voice is much deeper than Gooding's. Of course, the more interesting performances come from the actors playing the lawyers. Patricia Clarkson in particular is flawless as Marcia Clark. She disappears into the role.

@@kevintaylor9590The only 🤡here is you. Everyone with half a brain knows OJ is ACTUALLY guilty of murder. The verdict determined he was only LEGALLY not guilty of murder and it certainly didn’t find him “innocent”! Legal & actual guilt are 2 very different things. Educate yourself before directing such asinine comments at others.
