I don’t mean to disrespect or sound callous to the Victim’s families . In fact , hearing the sobs break my heart . But I can understand why the black community were for the most part supporting OJ and celebrated the verdict . No , two wrongs don’t make a right . I believe for black people , it was more about getting an affluent white family , and “Main Street” white America in general, feel a small portion of the pain the black community experienced for centuries. By a racist and corrupt justice system. This was only 2 years after seeing a group of white cops walk away after being recorded on camera , taking turns beating and stomping a defenseless black man . Not to mention centuries of racial injustice . Hundreds of thousands of wrongfully convicted men and women by all white juries and judges . Especially in the Jim Crow south . With the lynchings. Police officers making African American and white civil rights activists disappear. Mobs of white people , including white women and children, along with police officers, beating, lynching and burning black people to death. Without any repercussions. Women and children being some of those victims as well. Black children being wrongfully convicted of murder and executed. (Suggest you read the story of George Stinney. Or Emmit Till’s story. Take a good look at that open coffin photo at his wake) . I totally understood the anger. This verdict gave conservative , Christian, white community a punch in the gut. They got to feel a fraction of the pain African Americans have felt about the justice system for centuries .

You know something? The judge can tell the audience not to react emotionally or loudly all he wants, but people are going to react as they feel about it instinctively. This is obviously true of the family members. What are you going to do? Have the family members arrested for having feelings? I know he is trying to keep and maintain order, but that works only to a certain point. The feeling inside that courtroom in the moments before those verdicts were read had to have been so thick you could have cut it with a knife! I am not sure if I would have wanted to have been in that courtroom that morning, especially with the Goldberg and Simpson family members breaking down like that when the verdicts were read.
