@@succulentflakesofperfectly5541 I think your response highlights a systematic flaw in our treatment of people with mental health issues more than anything. The problem isn't guns, and gun control isn't the solution, the solution is better treatment and awareness on mental health. This man didn't save the school by beating the kid up, he gave him a hug, told him he mattered. The kid obviously has issues to think that bringing a gun to the school is a solution but doesn't mean he isn't just like any other kid who wants to be loved, cared about.

It's strange that u said that. I found myself getting emotional for reasons very similar to what u indicated. The hug. I couldn't help but feel fucked up inside when I saw the reaction to the hug. The young man's frustration with his own life made me think about my sons. As fathers we gotta strike a balance and let our sons know that we love them and that they're still valuable to us regardless to the circumstances. Yeah man. This video had me crying too. For real.

that moment that he saved students lives that day was absolutely amazingly heroic but this guy is a hero everyday in the way he teaches & mentors his team members. what a beautiful human being. sorry for the loss of his best friend. that was a senseless loss of life due to drugs.

I read an article written by Adam Rittenberg for ESPN and Keanon was quoted as saying "It wasn't in me to beat him up or hold him down or hurt him, even though it was seconds after this crazy thing happened. I felt his vibe, I felt how scared he was, I felt it all". _That's_ why he hugged Angel. Well done Keanon, great job. Edit: There is another article written by Greg Bishop for Sports Illustrated where Keanon says of the gun incident and his best friend who died "Taylor was with me. He was right there the whole time".

That boy would have raised that shotgun and died by cop if they had got to him first. It was not his day to die either. Both of these young men have stories left to tell because of Keanons strength of character. My heart breaks for someone who feels that alone.

That young man was in 20 different kinds of pain and felt like he had no other option. This coach showed him the kindness and love he was missing. In that moment, this coach not only stopped a shooter, he saved a promising life. I hope that kids gets better and uses this experience to make a difference in the life of someone else who needs it.

You are a hero. Both to all those students you potentially saved, and to the distraught lonely individual. You hugging him gave me hope for humanity. I pray that you and the students recover and that the "shooter" finds some love and hope in his life. And you hugging him, was the first step.

I didn't think i'd cry until I saw him tell that boy "I was here to save you" not the other student's, him. I can't imagine the pain these children go through to get to the point where they want to go out with a bang like that just to be noticed. Help these children. They're a product of America and it's gun toxicity.
@hagamapama
@hagamapama 4 жыл бұрын
You were doingn pretty well until the last couple words. This has nothing to do with gun culture. This is about America's laxity on health care in general and mental health in particular. This kid needed help and he wasn't getting it. His cry for attention happened to be a gun, it could have just as easily been joining a gang, bringing a knife, doing drugs, or half a dozen other things. The gun is really tangential to the story at most.

@@hagamapama Mate I'm from Australia and I can tell you for sure Living life without guns in your community... No one gets shot? No one is killed through gun violence? If you have a mental health issue we sort it out at a hospital not with a dangerous weapon that shouldn't be allowed in ones possession. This is gun toxicity at it's finest. You have women, children, schools, churches, shopping malls ffs getting shot up. This is a living nightmare.. You're losing your people because they don't want to lose the guns.

@Nathan-xm7rw
@Nathan-xm7rw 4 жыл бұрын
If anything it's the product of counseling and mental health being stigmatized. I can guarantee this kid has been told to "Man up" by at least one person he reached out to. You can blame guns all you want, nothing's going to change since the right to own them isn't going change. If you want to see actual change, how about we stop worrying solely about women's issues, and worry more about the issues facing men as well. Some people are insane, and they shouldn't have gotten their hands on a gun; but some people are driven to this point, and that can't be blamed on anyone besides the people who pushed them that far.
@Nathan-xm7rw
@Nathan-xm7rw 4 жыл бұрын
@@WinstonStudiosFilm Do you realize that around 96% of mass shootings happen in gun free zones? If all guns were banned, someone could still obtain one illegally and go kill people. Statistics show that they already go to places where people don't have guns. Outlawing guns would just make all areas a gun free zone, and there would be no chance for people to fight back. I know a lot of bad seems to happen with guns, but do you have any idea how many people are saved by them every year? Also, hand guns amass way more deaths per year than semi automatic rifles do, so if you're looking to get rid of anything, it probably shouldn't be someone's MSR-15 that they leave locked up in a safe 99% of the time.
