Three weeks after Linfield Christian QB Alex Ruiz had surgery in 2017 in attempt to repair his leg after a horrific tackle, Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller suffered a similar injury vs. the New Orleans Saints. While Ruiz tries to cope with amputation, it's the NFL star who needs to lean on the struggling high school QB. Saints QB Drew Brees narrates the inspiration tale of The Brotherhood.

I'd say more of an icon Coach. I imagine he has a great connection with ALL of his players, not just one of them. He does this Every Year as he coaches young boys into men with a strong work ethic and good moral values. Too ALL the young men he has taught, for however number of years he has coached at the school.

@@robertmason7553 Sad to say it's true, especially after witnessing that. There are people out there that will paint that boy a Nazi or racist, without ever knowing this relationship. People out there that will see this coach as some inferior buffoon, never knowing his love for that kid. Good thing, racism in America is a dwindling phenomenon, on life support. Kept alive only by the persistence of those that see a path to power through racial division.

Tore a bunch of ligaments in my shoulder playing my junior year, went through 6 months of rehab and tried switching positions to get back on the field my senior year but I never got the chance to play again. Stories like Alex will always make my eyes water b/c it reminds me how football can still have a positive impact after you've been hit with the worst parts of life.
