He actually has a line where he says I was nothing... Steve you were magnificent.. you were so classy and composed on the field he had a huge impact on my life as I know you football fan I got to see almost every one of your home games.. we all tried to emulate you running the wishbone in our neighborhood. You are huge in our life

I sure miss him. His brother George started me out in acting and it just changed my life and George died in California. I heard Steve preach a sermon in my little home town of Rush Springs at the first Baptist church. I never dream we’d become friends and I’m still friends with Bo his son and Judy his ex wife that gave my little girl thousands of dollars worth of clothes that her kids out grew. She remarried Jeff Davis who owns Arby’s and he died two years ago. So much has happened and she was a cheerleader at OU. What a school, two of my kids graduated there.

Fletch was a damned poet. My buddy and I went to just watch practice on the SW corner of Memorial Stadium in 2000-2001 and Ronnie Fletcher hung around up there with us watching his son describing the old days to us and how Bud Wilkinson looked like some Norse god and commanded the team completely.

I once had the occasion to stay at the Sooner Legends hotel. The room I got was dedicated to the great Steve Davis. If you’ve never stayed at this hotel, you should book a room just so you can walk the halls and take in all the OU history. Even if you live in Norman, take the opportunity to do it. It’s an awesome place.

So sad they tore it down and liquidated all the treasures in that hotel.

Even a Yankee like me appreciated what Steve Davis could do on a football field in the mid-1970s. Loved to watch that vintage Oklahoma option. RIP......

Stevie, you always will be a class act, on and off the field and the most exciting quJarterback and that comes from someone that loved Josh, Jason, Nate, Sam and Landry.

Dariel1212 , no disrespect but I noticed you didn't mention one great black quarterback that played for the Sooners: Thomas Lott, J.C Watts, Jameille Holloway, Charles Thompson. You're not racist are you?
