My favorite was the speech before playing USC in LA in 1973. Only his second game as a head coach. “I don’t like John McKay.” “He’s arrogant like his football team”. “They come in tonight jiving’, snappin’ their fingers.” “That’s what we’re suppose to do out there.” “We’re from Hicksville”. “I’ll be disappointed if we don’t rich for 400 years against them”. “I’m serious”. “They’ve not seen anyone who can assault them like we can”. Then walking down the concrete ramp before the game. “Is that the sound of little cleats”? “No, that’s probably their teeth chattering”. What a character. What a motivator. What a coach.

Yes, they are all bosses, but Bob Stoops has my football heart. His stepping down from the crown for the greater good of the program is nothing short of greatness, and this single act of selflessness has kindled a fiery passion that is now being carried by the entire football nation of Oklahoma. In other words, Bob showed us the way.

If stoops was even half the coach Switzer was he would've won more championships. He was never on Barry's level

Also, how about the time where Switzer lost those 4 games in a row. I don't think Bob ever lost 2 in a row.
@loribrogdon77592 жыл бұрын
Btw you are right Bob was never on switzers level. He was on a level of his own. His level was by far superior than Switzer, especially by the way how he handled his program. And he left on his own, he wasn't fired like your boy was. And furthermore, the AD wanted Bob to come back to coach full time. What does that say about what kind of man Bob was. Switzer was never asked to come back after he got axed.

Coach Switzer:1973 undefeated 1974: undefeated 1975 1 loss to Kansas 2 1/2 seasons undefeated with back to back National championships. 1985: national champions Bob Stoops: Season 1? 7-5 with an independence bowl loss. Season 2 undefeated and a national championship. Played LSU USC and Florida for the national championship only to lose said 3. Yeah Stoops has a better record and I appreciate him resurrecting our program but Barry Switzer and Bud Wilkinson will always be the goat coaches from OU

Coach Switzer will always forever be my favorite all time head coach. He went undefeated from 73-75 won back to back championships in 74 and 75 and again in 85.
